Think

Think

Think is a new online community where young people, their friends and some of the biggest names in pop culture can come together to bring about positive change. Think.MTV.com is a dynamic, multimedia-driven site where any young person can learn more about important issues like the environment, sexual health and immigration, share their opinions – via uploaded online videos, podcasts and blogs – and connect with others to make a difference.

The Think Community is one of the only to reward members for positive actions taken online or off, serving up chances to hang out with socially conscious celebs, access to exclusive MTV events, exposure on MTV and other national media outlets, as well as grants, scholarships and more. Bono, Pete Wentz, Shakira, Reggie Bush, Rosario Dawson, Nick Cannon, Miss USA Rachel Smith, John Legend, Nick Lachey, Chris Rock and Steve Nash are just a few of the stars already involved with the Think Community, and many more will be joining in the weeks ahead.

Well, look at that…no comments for the Think site. Could it be because MTV doesn’t encourage its viewers to do any type of thinking? Could it be because MTV abandoned any type of social responsibility it thought it had a long time ago?

Please help. I don’t understand. Where do I click to buy some crap? Where do I click to see some people drinking or hooking up? Hit me with a commercial. In fact, ram down my throat. I WANT TO BE THE LCD.

MTV’s slogan used to be “I want my MTV” now it just makes me want to throw my TV.

Btw, I know viacom thinks they can steal my words because I posted here, but I’ll keep writing that whenever and where ever I want.

    Hey MTV!

I’m a Peer Counselor, and I am planning a Unity Forum this coming December about Teenage Drinking at my High School. I was hoping to contact someone in hopes that you could help put me into contact with Jason Wahler from “The Hills”, or give me a way to contact him. The other Peer Counselors and I were hoping that we could try and see if he is available to be a gust speaker at our Unity Forum. We feel like he would be a positive infulence and role model because he has been to rehab because of drinking, and is able to share his story with us. Please let me know if any of this is at all possible. I would greatly appreciate any help you are able to give me! Thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful day!

    Sincerely,
    DeeDee

  4. Rob C Says:

I never come on this site. I only came on here to express my feelings towards MTV only to find that someone has already said what I wanted to. MTV is crap. You’re called Music Television but you play no music.

Lets look at todays schedule. You play music videos from 6 to 9 am. Three solid hours of videos. Not bad but whos really watching videos then? The only other musical program you air is and hour of TRL. A bunch of mindless fans screaming at mindless VJ’s. 4 out of 24 hours is music on your so called Music Television.

Lets look at Saturdays schedule, a prime time to watch some good music videos. At 5am you air MTV live… and that’s it! The only musical program you have is at 5 am. 1 hour of actual music television for an entire Saturday! From Noon to Midnight, 12 straight hours, you air America’s Next Top Model. It’s hard for me to believe this. If it’s a good show or not, which it’s not, it has no business being aired on a music station.

More than 80% of what you air has nothing to do with music. You are sell outs, giving in to the mindless masses so your corporate wallets can get fat. Wake up and hear the music MTV. You have ruined what used to be an inspiring aspect of many lives. Now kids are growing up on “Tila Tequila” and “Engaged & Underage”.

MTV I ask you this. Wheres the Music in Music Television?

    -Rob C

  14. Ben Says:

MTV has the power and influence to potentially make goodwill and compassion “cool.” For example MTV could feature rich kids doing good things instead of just throwing parties. Shows like My Sweet Sixteen condition kids that wasteful consumerism, and being a spoiled selfish brat is cool. If viewers saw rich kids (or regular people- oops I mean sexy people) making a difference in communities by doing something positive rather than being purely selfish, the positive influence might do a little good. MTV can’t solve the world’s problems, but it sure could do a better job. Instead of contributing to the delinquency of the next generation by promoting greed and glamorizing selfish spoiled kids, MTV could glamorize do-gooders, thereby encouraging throngs to be more decent human beings rather than spoiled selfish brats. Some people learn a significant portion of their social skills and are heavily influenced by MTV and similar related media. Why make dysfunction the goal everyone should strive for? How about a show dedicated to profiling the charitable activities of the wealthy, so stars can compete with the Joneses to be the most charitable rather than having the coolest house or the most pimped whips? How about some competitions to make some positive impacts. I’m sure MTV is slick enough to figure out the angles, and capture sufficient drama to keep the audience engaged and wanting more. DO SOMETHING. I don’t buy the argument that it wouldn’t sell. MTV is a leader with great power. With great power comes great responsibility.

iI honestly don”t know where to begin because there are so many issues to think about. Think about this though what ever problems you are going through there are others that have it worse than you, so try to be thankful for what you do have, however small it may be. I am going to have bariatric surgery December 2oth ad to be honest I am terrified, but i am putting my faith in God and anyone out there that wants to say a prayer for me I wll be very thankful. I will be zat TriCity hospital and this is one time I can say “I hope I will be comming out a smaller person”. Lets keep the faith for all our troops and if you can make a difference in just one persons life don’t hesitate….do it. You will feel so much better inside.

i have a great show idea, the name would be “pimp my past”. we go to all the top celeberties and ask them where they grew up, go back to that home, community, shcool,or projects and ask the ? if you could have had it your way what would it have been like? at the same time that they pimp it out they are also giving back to where they came from. i think the celebs would like to change a small part of their past by seeing their home, shcool, community, or projects pimped out. i also have 3 teenage daughters that could act as the interveiwer and look good in front of the camera. please let me know what you think.

I am sure that no one @ MTV gives a crap what a 40 year old thinks…..except that I am the one who gives my kids money to buy your stuff!!!! Why has the DVD release of the State been postponed? Do you have an aversion to making real money?????? My kids are under strict instructions you don’t spend a DIME on MTV material (or even watch) until the State is released (hey if I have to resort to blackmail so be it, that was your decision, not mine)

I do not know where to leave this message but this is for MTV. I want to say that Dani on the Tila Shot @Love is an awesome person u need more nice real people on ur shows there r so many little ones in this world watching your shows & when you find someone that stands out the way she did and the way I mean is simply being a good person. I am a happily married strait lady and I was not even going to watch Tila cause I thought it stood for no good, but one day I was flipping chanels and watched a minute Dani sold me………I seen her as a person and not a gay person not a strait person but a good person someone I would like my kids to watch…….on a better show…….what I am tring to get at can you keep Dani on TV?? can your network find something for her on TV? I miss seeing someone nice for a change-a good change!

  26. Rick Says:

What’s up with Tila not ever calling Bobby after the show ended? That’s messed up. Why pick him if she didn’t intend to pursue the relationship. What a fake “reality” show. Why do you think anyone would want to watch your New Year’s Eve show when it is hosted by a person that is so fake. If the show was about getting ratings, and she never intended to follow through with her final decision, it shouldn’t have been called a reality show. Should have been called a Soap Opera instead. MTV really sucks now a days. How about less ‘reality” shows and getting back to what made MTV, MTV……More Music Videos. Most of the stuff on now, doesn’t relate to music at all.

  28. AnnaRose Says:

Hey, I was watching MTV’s sweet sixteen show earlier and I realized how ignorant and selfish people can be. It’s all a cause of human nature to take enjoyment in this instant gratification from all this fame and money. I think the way some (not all) are taught shouldn’t be shown to people to think that this is what you need to live a good life. I like watching the show and I always wonder what if my birthday were like that or if I had that money, but would I be as bright or understanding as a person as I am now? Besides that, I think a new episode of sweet sixteen, maybe going around the country to girls and boys turning sixteen in foster homes and give them a dream of making there own birthday with a given amount of money. To see there reaction and appreciation of everything would be unexplainable. If you like the idea, I would absolutely love to help.

  36. Jen Says:

I just need to make a comment based on what I am watching on MTV, 1/19/08. First, I love the shows on MTV, I watch them all the time, and am a huge fan. However, I just watched “unforgettable challenge moments” and I am disgusted.
The actual moment that turned my stomach was when Diem said she had ovarian cancer. After that, Beth was making coments about how she is milking it, and is looking for attention more or less down right rude.
So this comment goes out to Beth and the people who actually let what she said air on national television: Beth, what you said was ignorant, wrong and repulsive. I am a 31 year old woman who watched my mother suffer for 2 and 1/2 years with ovarian cancer and it was torture. My mother faught until the end…she unfortunately passed away on July 10, 2007. I was holding her hand while she was in a semi-coma, telling her how much I love her and always will and that it is ok to let go and everything will be ok….she started to cry….have you ever seen a person in a semi-coma….they can’t speak move etc, what they can do is hear you….seeing my mother cry because I know she could hear me will never leave me, the vision will never go away, it was the most sad, heartbreaking moment in my life. Minutes later I watched her take her last breath. So, cancer is not a joke, it is not something that you should even comment on if you have never been through it, seen it first hand on how it affects someone and realize that as a woman, we all could be affected. You know, I truly believe in Karma, what goes around comes around. Beth, shame on you. Diem, my heart goes out to you, and hope that the treatments you receive are successful. Be are from Boston and have some of the best hospitals in the world. My mother went through 9 different chemo treatments, radiation and several operations. She fought until the end. She was sick after every treatment, she lost her hair, the use of her kidneys, the use of her left leg and blockages that almost killed her. She had bags everywhere. She lost all functions of her body…and I was there everyday. So, to those of you, Beth, who think that it is a joke, go see someone who has ovarian cancer, watch what they endure, and you want to know even more details…get in touch with me…stand in my shoes for one day…and I will tell you what it was like as I watched my mother who was my best friend fight for her life, an die. Diem went on the show and did fantastic. She knew treatments were coming after the show and she made a decision to do something she wanted as you never know the outcome. Kudos to her.
And Beth, I hope you think about what you said, and take it back and pray that this horrible disease never happens to you.

I try my hardest to get involved with anything that will get the word out there for more research for this disease. I hope those of you that have been affected do the same. One person that I would love to get the word out is Angelina Jolie….she lost her mom like I did. She is a person that is listened too and that could make a statement and a difference. I hope some how she reads this and maybe just maybe more awareness is brought to this disease as it affects more people than you know.
Sorry for the long email, thank you all for listening, and know that this message is being written from the heart as ovarian cancer isn’t a joke. And my heart truly goes out to those that have been affected.

Sorry for any spelling errors, I wrote what i felt and didn’t focus on the spelling…just on how dumb and disrespectful Beth is, and how I would love to have the opportunity to talk to her face to face….as you can only say so much in writing. Beth what goes around comes around….

Where can you participate in the poll for the closing arguments? Please think twice before voting for Clinton!!!! Ron Paul is the way to go or even Obama. How can we expect Clinton to get across to foriegn leaders, when most do not respect women as we do here in the USA? They will not listen to her thoughts or ideas which would be pointless for us! Ron Paul has a great plan to focus on OUR problems in the USA and let everyone else worry about themselves! How can we help other countries when we can not take care of our own?!! As soon as we do not have one starving or homeless person in the USA then we can look to help others but for now focus on helping US!!!!!

I am disgusted to see that MTV has teamed up with the U.S. military in the launching of one of your new shows (only one that we know of so far!).

What the hell does the military have to do with the Gauntlet? Why are you bothering with your facade about social awarness and how you support youth when you so blatently let those uniformed predators invade your programs. How much ar ethey paying you for that?

    It isnt worth it!
