MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

I was wondering why cant you guys re air real world episodes instead of americas next top model all the time. People that are in their early twenties need to know season 1-5 to show the true side of the real world
May 20th, 2008 at 4:22 am
I am SO pizzed! What is wrong with your editor? You ran six plus hours of so you think you can dance and then DID NOT SHOW THE FINALE????!!!!! Can you give me back my six hours or send me the video of the winner being chosen???!!!!
May 20th, 2008 at 5:24 am
I watch your shows depending on my interest level. I feet that I am beyond the age level that your programs want, yet some of them catch my interest. I have never subscribed to your site until now… my disgust comes from the new Tila show… I loved the first one yet the new one is too much of a publicity stunt for Tila. I enjoyed the first one because I am a social worker and want soceity to grow… now, like I’ve already said it’s not a growth on soceity more then Tila wants growth with her own business. I know my opinion does not count for much but I am dissapointed that MTV would allow someone to host a show that allowa inocent individuals wanting love to be hurt. Good publicity for your televison show/channel, but I am disgusted.

May 21st, 2008 at 4:51 am
You’re buffering when watching videos. MTV should have this fixed. Thanks! I hope it gets better.
I see that other viewers are having the same issues. This is buffering issue and MTV should not have this.
May 21st, 2008 at 4:58 am
If it aint broke don’t fix it. It’s not fixed, It’s even more broken. What’s with all the buffering? Hope this feedback will give you some help on what viewers want on this site.

Ihink that Tila Tequila is a fake. she supposedly connected with other people in the first season, like danny but yet she chooses to make a second season with 30 new contestants does’nt that make you a hole? you don’t even have a clue of what love is you are in i..it for the money and you are’nt even that hot. you mess with these people who obviously has no self esteem and would be willing to be the one out of 30 people to win. plus what happened to bo was really unforgivable by you tila and the producers. if i was bo i would sue tila and all who was involved with the show
May 21st, 2008 at 9:49 am
Alright, I’ve been watching “The Real World” for as long as I can remember and I think that there should be a Real World Myrtle Beach. It’s fun and there’s never really been one outisde of the bigger areas in the US. Bring it to the Dirrry Dirrrty South!
May 21st, 2008 at 10:32 am

Your show Busted was recently in my college town of Salisbury,Md. Frankly, we have enough problems with overzealous cops. It would be nice if MTV of all things would not compound the problem further. Please ax this show, and start being about the youth instead of the man.
May 21st, 2008 at 4:35 pm

I think that you should totally do a True Life: I’m in a long distance relationship. My girlfriend and I have been in a relationship for 2 years and she lives in FL and I live in KY. We met on a cruise 2 years ago and our relationship is better than most people who are together all the time! Just a thought!

Howdy ya’ll. My wife and I own a sports barbershop in Coeur d’ Alene, Id. Everytime Rob and Big comes up at the shop, Robs’ hair always seems to be the main topic with the staff. His fade is no good. How about Rob and Big coming to town so we can hook the dude up. It’s an open invite for Rob to get fixed. What an episode that would make. Rob and Big in Idaho. Thanks for the time. Peace.

Please bring Videos back to MTV. MTV is not the same and I want my MTV Videos back!!!!!!
May 23rd, 2008 at 11:39 pm
Hello MTV and community. I was and still am a big fan of your show, Amrica’s Bet Dance Crew. I was wondering if Season 1 could possibly be put out on video because I would love to have it as well as watch exclusive clips and interviews that are posted on your site. I also feel that if it was actually on tape, that it would sell very well being that many Americans watched the show and participated in voting for their favorite dance crews.
I would really appreicate some feedback about this.
Thank you,
Inna SMith

I do not agree with your FAQs on your video player site. It states that choppy or stuttering etc. is due to poor internet connection or slow speed. NOT true here! I can’t watch ANYTHING on the MTV site as it is so choppy (constant buffering) and I have an EXCELLENT high speed cable connection. I have NO problem with other video players, e.g. ABC tv site. I watch shows at that site all the time. Please, please fix this situation — I need my Real World and the Hills etc.
