MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

As a wrock fan, I’m a little outraged by this. This is supposed to be THIS years top list right? The Switchblade Kittens wrote like one song about Harry Potter back in 2002! No ones heard of them since! Go read the comment boards at leakynews.com and see how many people know who they are. Very few. You should have polled the fans to get a more accurate idea of 2007. Just because you did like two articles on wrock doesn’t make you experts! Have you ever been to a wrock show like Wrockstock with multiple wrock bands and witnessed who ACTUALLY is the best obviously not. And where in the world is Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls on this list? He is absoulutley spectacular! As is the Weasel King! Harry and the Potters deserve the number one spot based on their fan following alone along with their hilarious lyrics that are only rivaled by Draco and the Malfoys. Parsemouths above Ministry of Magic? Come on MTV! Also, you incuded some medicre bands such as Catchlove and ranked them higher than one of the most popular and talented band the Whomping Willows! So aside from my great disapointment in the ranking, inclusions and ignoring of bands, I appreciate you recognizing such and awesome movement, even if you did so poorly.

I think Trisha from the Real World Sidney is the most sickening excuse for women I have ever seen, I am embarrassed. She proclaims her Christianity, hah, I am sure the church is in uproar over her antics. It would take a sub standard person with no clue about life to understand that she is a ?@*?? from hell. If there is a god, he is turning over in his grave. I feel sorry for her family who thought she was raised in “god’s way”, what a joke; she is nothing but a slut with a moderate education about life. That superficial girl will get hers…..I am discussed, and this is coming from someone who as watched the Real World from the beginning, so I have seen many characters, Trisha is the only one who has made me want to write, God help her. This new website sucks! The old one was fine. Whoever is doing your website has no common sense. Try to browse for the TRL Countdown list, can’t find it. Try to find the Top played or requested videos, can’t find it. How do i get to the charts?

before you read this I mean this with sincerity and it may be harsh. I wanted to write to the upper management of MTV to let you know that your station has gone to hell in a hand basket!! No one, I MEAN NO ONE wants to see RUNS HOUSE, BEAUTY AND THE GEEK, REAL WORLD, THE HILLS AND ALL OF THESE OTHER DUMB SHOWS!!! What ever investments you have into these shows, let them go!!! chalk it up as a loss and get it right.. MTV viewers loved videos, not short little videos like on TRL, they like on scene people in the daily grind around the U.S and world (i.e. Pauley shore, Down Town Julie Brown, etc). MTV= MUSIC TELEVISION, you have severely lost direction from your initial mission statement that proved successful. Even if you feel that your numbers are up, communication and the number of people watching TV is much higher than the 80’s so your target market would greatly increase if you got back to your roots! major people including 50 cent want more music, viewers want more music and for some reason the person giving orders keeps pumping more shows!!! you may think that ratings are up now, but they could be much better.. I hope you take this information with consideration and if you need creative assistance CALL ME!!!!

First off, you need to know that I like M.I.A’s music…BUT you need to realise that MTV is supporting a Terrorist group! M.I.A. is a strong support of the Tamil Tigers of Sri Lanka. The “tigers” are a terrorist group that have killed 1000’s of people in Sri lanka for the past 24 years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamil_Eelam M.I.A’s father was a higher up in this terrorist group and so she support them. So by buying her music you are in turn funding a terrorist group. And by MTV promoting her, you are handing more Money to a Terrorist group that has ruined the lives of thousands of people.

I think you all have been had. I live in Great Falls, MT and am from a city in Virginia that has projects and low income housing. Now I know you all might be wanting to show different places around the country and now just focus on LA or New York but Great Falls’ projects are a ‘penthouse in the sky’ compared to places around VA. And there are plenty of other jobs in Great Falls than dancing. Just plain ol lazy.

Tila if you want someone who likes to put a show on in the public then pick Bobby because I’ve noticed on a Shot at Love he loves to have others watch while he either lays on top of you or when he puts you over him. Since he is a student and has been for a good number of years he doesn’t have to worry about working . Bobby can live off of you. Now if you want someone who knows how to handle having a job, saving lifes and puts her life on the line then please pick Dani. Now there is someone who respect you and doesn’t want to put on sexual displays in public.Dani is one class act. If Bobby had to even think about running into a burning building he would wet his pants and cry like a baby.

This is regarding A shot at love, Im not sure who Tila picks yet, most likely bobby. Anyway if she does pick Bobby you guys should give Dani her own show to find Love, it will bring in tons of viewers, I know i’d watch it, just an idea….C’mon DO IT!!

You guys should make a shot at love with Dani campbell.. she is amazing and i bet you would get so many viewers because everyone seems to love her and i would be on that show in a heartbeat.
