MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

I am trying to sign up for your site and I have no idea what my Prifile URL would or should be . I do not believe that I have one and it will not let me continue without it. I currently have AT & T U-Verse DSL. Can you help ?

I love it, just as I love the story.
You can see the love there, and the ultimate protection vibe.
plus the fact that Edward is gorgeous
although, for some reason I also think they seem a bit distant compared to the ammount of love expressed in the book.
I think if they had been holding hands in the picture, and not changing anything else, could have embraced that a little more
but other than that, it’s perfect and I see a story and love and emotion.

Could you please stop showing “Sucker Free.” I looked at the TV listing and it was on twice when you could be showing videos. I always look at the listing to avoid this show when I record the few music videos you show. Please do not take away more videos for this show that is nothing but talk.

I feel the ads for the MTV Movie Awards are offensive pertaining to JUNO. I’m referring to the one stating “8LBS. 6OZ. (IF YOU WIN ONE JUNO. DON’T GIVE IT AWAY.)” Although, I have not been in such a situation to decide on the future of a child, I think this is offensive to women who have. This sounds like some Rupert Murdock influenced propaganda, since he probably owns the station, and wants to put some “moral” standing against teenage pregnancy. I advise viewers to be aware of these typically negative media influences. NO one should say a woman should or should not do anything. Especially when the choice in the movie was to give the child up for adoption. Isn’t that supposed to be “morally right” now a days?

Will you puhleeeze remove that sickening show “A shot at love with Tila Tequila”. There are a lot of us who are grossed out with the stuff that is aired on hte show. I hope I am not forced to block the channel in order to prevent my children from being able to watch the show.

I think that the people at MTV should do a True Life episode about being a rower. Since the sport is not exactly mainstream, I think that it would be a great way to show that crew is a competitive sport that tons of people participate in it.

I never thought i would see that day that MTV would allow some person on a reality show to make such offensve comments about another culture/person. The girl from S.C. using terms such as “ghetto and inner city blackville” is unacceptable and she should be removed from the show.
MTV as a whole has always been and and the first to do several things for anyone who has experience they many different prejudice that we have in our society. I am completely disappointed in this real world and i will never
never watch anything else on your network…

Hey, I didn’t know where to put this. I have recently been involved in a senior prank that has gone seriously wrong. There has been alot of controversy going around and students at the high school are protesting our punishments. With no prom, possibly no graduation, possible felony charges, and the support of an entire school, this is one pretty exciting High School Story. Our (the pranksters) fates are still being decided. I was trying to catch an episode of the Real World and I noticed this pop up bubble feature. I found it to be so obnoxious and distracting. I had to switch the channel because it was so annoying and made viewing impossible. I don’t know whose idea this was, but I won’t be watching the Real World or any other program on MTV if this is going to be a regular feature.

I have been checking the TRUE LIFE line-up for the re-showing of episode #2 (I’M IN AN INTERRACIAL RELATIONSHIP), and I have noticed that
for some reason(s)(?) this particular episode rarely airs. If you can please forward this note to whoever programs what episodes get airplay
I would like to get a response. I continually see other episodes being
aired over and over again. I only hope that in 2008 that this episode is not being aired because of someone’s biases.

Forget it. I’m trying to sign up but I have no clue what the hell to put in for Profile URL and NOWHERE is it explained in any way, but every thing I try to put in says “Sorry, you cannot use this Profile URL” and “Profile URL is incorrect” so just forget it. You think you could make it a little more difficult to sign up??? What a friggin’ joke, just like your whole network.

AMERICA is every country in between Canada down south to Argentina. There is North, Central, and South America; we so happen to live in North America. The name “United States” (for a countries name) is kinda off also. Most countries in the Americas are A “United States”. The only exception that comes to mind for me would be Canada, they’re made up of territories.
Everybody on the Americas IS “American”. For a country to think they are America is idiotic, wake up. America is a continent, not a country.
So to make a long story short, Mexico/Mexicans can go around saying they’re the United States of America and they’re a country full of Americans, because they are!

Give me a break about the videos being slow just cause they’re working out the kinks. Seems to me that when there was a commerical in the middle of any episode I watch, it doesn’t buffer at all. Nor are the commericals slow or pausing continuously…. hmmmm coincidence, i think not. Are we or are we not in 2008? Mtv doesn’t even play music or videos anymore, so perhaps take a one dollar from every show you play over and over and over and put it towards buying one commercial to play four times thru show (watch abc.com for once, they at least know how to not annoy their viewers….not rocket science here) and have the damn thing buffer in the beginning or as it goes like every other basic online site.

I have an idea for you. I am sure 20 Year Anniversarys are
always something that bring attention on tv. Well, even though
Guns N Roses 1st album came out in 1987. You (MTV) had an
hour special back in 1988 at the RITZ which is highly viewed on
You Tube. It is Censored too which is fine, but I think right now would be Perfect timing since I read (heard) through the
Grapevine of a Reunion of the original members (I know it sounds funny), but now the Scott Wieland is back with STP and
the management of Velvet Revolver took over GnR as per website, there have also been sitings of Slash and Axl at the same Hotel possibly conversing. Long story short, not just myself, but there are many others who would love to see this
go back on. Please advise of this being a possibility and when.

Hey - Just checked out your bio of Jack Johnson and noticed a LAME ERROR. It came in the sentence “It was during his college years in America that Johnson began writing the relaxed, acoustic-based songs that would later turn him into a chart-topping star.” His “college years in AMERICA” ???? Last time I checked Hawaii was part of “America.” I actually went to high school with Jack Johnson (although he was a senior when I was a 7th grader - Kahuku High & Intermediate) - and even way back then it was part of America.
In Hawaii, the way we refer to the rest of “America” is by calling it “the mainland.” The sentence should have read as follows: “It was during his college years on the mainland that Johnson…” Or at least it should just omit the bit about him going to college in America, as if he was visiting a different country. I’m sure its a innocent mistake - but, now, as High school geography teacher - I find it tragic that people still don’t know that Hawaii - although different in culture - is NOT A DIFFERENT COUNTRY!!

Have you guys ever thought of coming up with a show about particular sports teams or individuals competing against each other through a different sport. For example, having pro or semi-pro hockey players compete against pro or semi-pro basketball players in a game of American football (or some other sport). It would interesting and facinating to see which group would preform better or adjust better to win. You could start with a bunch of different sports teams (from various sports) and have them play against each other until one has eliminated the rest to become the best or ultimate sports team. Anyway, I think it would make a great show and I would personally love to watch it!
