MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

Is there ANY way I can be emailed or purchase the Made Season 1 where Mike is made into a basketball player? Or, if you don’t know, can you please tell me who to contact. I can’t find anyway to see or buy this.

Please, Please take Kimberly OFF of Realworld Hollywood. She is turing race relations back 20 years. Please do it for the next generation. Please, please take Kimberly OFF! Her comments are judgemental and often just plain ridiculous! She not only hurts relations, she makes all southern white women look stupid! We are NOT! She makes single young females seem ignorant and she definitely makes educated women look just plain STUPID! PLEASE! PLEASE! Take her OFF the air!

I see a lot of unhappiness with some of the shows on your network.
Not sure what your ratings tell you, but it seems you have some
unhappy customers. If there is a trend here that is consistent, perhaps that
would be the best yardstick of a show’s success. MTV has changed so much
from 20 years ago. I miss it.

MHD, the web site is useless. I can’t see who has played, what is playing, what will be playing. Radio stations do better thatn this and they don’t have your money. Get with the program. DETAILS ! that’s what people want, need from a web site. NOT advertisements, althoght we know it pays the bills, keep it to a dull roar.

i love watching the “true Life” and hope that in the future you will do a “life in the las Vegas Nightclub Industry” or “in the day of a Las Vegas Independent VIP Host” show i know so many people that could make this show a success and my friends and i out here always joke around on how perfect our lives would be to be filmed…. hope to hear from you soon MTV….

It’s gotten to a point where I had to write…..DON’T SHOW AMERICAS NEXT TOP MODEL ALL DAY!!!! Enough already. Im about 2 more shows from never watching mtv again. it’s the worst show ever…..everyone has been shown like 85 times and it’s the most annoying thing to turn on the tv and see Tyra Banks and those other people…seriously…you’re gona lose people

Why do your videos buffer at the speed of TOAST?! Honestly, if I could pause and let them load and then watch all the way through it would be one thing. But it’s really hard for me to experience the awesomeness of Gabe Saporta when I must experience it in 1/5 of a second increments!
In other words: I enjoy your product and demand you make changes or the cat gets it.

i love the show life of ryan and it hasnt been played in so so so long why i think that a lot of people are missing the show and i would be great to find out when mtv is going to play life of ryan again
i think that many girls and possibly some guys will love to see life of ryan on next tuesday and for all the tuesdays to follow because it has not been on in almost a month

Why are you posting horrible comments that are submitted by “We’re not going to take you”, and others of her kind? She called Chloe ugly , Crosby an old man, amongst other things. I don’t even understand what she is talking about. Crosby is obviously young, Chloe is pretty, but if she reads horrible comments like that do you have any idea how that can affect her? The poor girl is already battling anorexia, do you people want her to off herself? You really need to have some bounderies on what you allow on the site. The comments should just be about the kids performances, not personal attacks on their appearance. That is just evil.

The video for The Hills Aftershow season 3, ep 27 is not working. It only plays the commercials..”intializes” for 20 seconds and then goes to the next video where it only plays the commercial over and over again. The rest of the videos are working fine.

For some reason… none of the videos on this website have been forking all day today so far. It is a bit frustrating when you want to see something and all it keeps playing are the “comercials” before the actual video over and over and over again. I hope this gets fixed soon.

I am the director of the Cobra Starship ‘Guilty Pleasure’ video on your home page as an exclusive video premiere… the credit of director on the site says TEAM COBRA. this is incorrect. Atlantic Records said they would correct the problem asap, but it hasn’t been changed yet.
