MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

Hey MTV, I was 15 when Mtv launched in 1981 with th Buggles. Since then, I have been an MTV fan. However, now more than 20 years later, and watching a Cribs episode, I am wondering if it is possible to include the work involved for young entertainers, athlthetes, to obtain such spectatular homes. Don’t get me wrong, I love providing the best possible for my kids, but I am trying to get them to understand the work involved in getting to have the best. I just thought if they could see that other successful people worked to get where they are it might be beneficial to all people searching for their place in the world.

Well my name is Jack and i live in New York. I have been keeping up with all the reality dating shows, and i feel that you (M.T.V.) can help me find my own true love. I see this show is not for African Americans. There is a lot of talent in this show and all the African Americans were cut. Lil B. Sure, A’Kieba Burrell and Landon Brown should not have been cut before Chloe. I do not understand how Chloe is still on the show and she can’t sing. She has been the worst performer since the show started yet she is still there. Make you wonder who Olivia Newton John screwed for her daughter to stay on the show.
I see MTV is once again making shows where African Americans are not allowed.

Hello , My name is Aylin I am from Miami, FL ,, I try always to follow up with news but the Wesley Snipes case is outrages .. give time in jail like that for none paying taxes.. I think at least he was truthful and spoke his believe.. I would think the same ….is real infair… We need to stand up and power up for him..MTV visitors, , all over the web we need to reunide and do something to change this laws,, .. Who is choosing our laws? Do we ever think about that…….

Please Please Please STOP playing America’s Next Top Model every single weekend all weekend long. There are a million more shows I would rather seen re runs of like Laguna beach, the hills, old real worlds, old road rules, made, true life etc. Anything but that dang show. Its on from Friday night to Sunday night sometimes. STOP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn’t find anything on the pimp my ride website to see if I could get my fiance’s truck “pimped.” He’s had it for almost 6 years. And it’s junk but he won’t let it go. It’s slowly putting us in debt. It’s a chevy k10 half ton pick up. It’s so bad that we can’t put more than 10 bucks in gas in the thing or gas leaks. If you know who can help me contact them I would be greatly appreciated thanks. jessey

omg! i have been desperately wanting TRL to have the jonas brothers on!!!!! I’m hoping that you haven’t had them on yet but I really want them to be on soon!!!! I love mtv. it is a great network, but I have just noticed a flaw with one of the commercials that you have aired. There is a commercial that comes on daily featuring a rock band, which group I am not sure of, as the group is coming out of the stalls of the bathroom, one member writes on the wall ‘’school still sucks.” I feel that this is a network that gets the attention of many fans from all different age groups. the last impression you would want to promote is school sucks. if I were you I would the cahnges to that commercial asap. I just feel that it is hypocritical to air a show called the paper about high school student in a newspaper group, but then turn around and air a commercial saying that school sucks. I love mtv and this has been a great network over the years, but please stay on track and encourage people to go to school. you might want to research the retention rate among high school and college students. maybe that will have you think twice about what you air and the message you are sending out.

I CANNOT WATCH ANY VIDEOS. IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. THE INTRO CLIPS COME OUT. BUT THEN NOTHING ELSE COMES OUT. IT SAYS BUFFERING. ITS SO SLOW. I SO WANT TO WATCH YOUR VIDEOS AGAIN. ESPECIALLY THE HILLS.

MTV is so horrible now… Shot at Love is a horrible and terribly boring show. I feel the same way about a ridiculously long weekend marathon of Next Top Model. Please bring back Life of Ryan and play a wider variety of shows instead of beating us to death with boring and over-played shows.

I watch the show Life Of Ryan. All of a sudden it has not been for the last few weeks. I was wondering why they did not tell us it would not be showing for this amount of time or it has been taken off air. I’m sad to see that the show it not playing and was wondering what happen to it.

I think this should be featured on MTV
The organization Do Something and James Patterson’s Maximum Ride have teamed up to spread awareness about global warming. To meet the band create a PSA about global warming and the person with the best PSA will be able to appear in a PSA with fall out boy. The winner will also recieve a trip to LA or NYC and win $500 towards the community service project of your choice.

I have to say I am happy to see Lauren C in a good place in her life.
I hope her and Stephen C get back together.He is a real and honest guy.I hope Audrina and Justin get back together too and that she move out from living with Ms Lo who thinks she is little miss perfect.

10 years ago I loved MTV because there was something interesting for everybody in your program. For the last two weeks I have not seen anything but Yo rap whatever. There are other music genre than rap, hip pop and r&b. Why do you limit yourself and your viewers to something that consist in 90% of crap?

I am a Canadian citizen and a big fan of twilight. MTV are producing this movie and you have vidoes on behind the scene things. I for one and i am sure many other people WANT TO SEE THE VIDOES!!!!!! Not all people are going to produce them illegaly there are GOOD people out there that would LOVE to see the videos.

I have a great idea for a reality TV show that will out rate a lot of the show’s now. I want to give MTV my idea and it would be a dream of mine to see it on MTV. I am afraid to tell anyone about it cause I know it will be a hit and someone else is going to take the idea. With all the show out there today I’m surprised no one came up with it yet. Please let me know how I need to go about getting it to the right people on MTV.

Is there anyone out there who can help me? I`m searching for a song that I first heard in the early 90s. I saw the video on MTV I dont know the title or group name but I know fore sure that they sang the word ICE and that the video is played on a hockeyice. peolpe where skating around in diffrent custoumes. I think it was a popsong. It`s not much to go on but it`s all I can remeber, I`ve only heard it twice, last time 1994 I think. No one would be more happy than me if someone can help me with this! I want to comment on Pimp My Ride. In this age of alternative fuels, Hybids, Green building. I would like to see Pimp My Ride do shows on pimping alternate fuel vehicles. I have a CNG van (Compressed Natural Gas) 2.60 a gallon is killing me!
By the summer I should be paying about 1.50 per gallon.(suckers) My ride is so generic it is sad. So anyone in touch with the powers to be, send my request to pimp my alternative fuel van.

Okay so I don’t know if this is where I would post this kind of question but I’ll let you know I am completly computer iliterate. I really really want to be on pimp my ride because everyone tells me how much my car needs it. So you guys should bring back pimp my ride and honestly you could do what ever you want with the car, make it an environmetally friendy car, cut it up, put it back together I really don’t mind anything at this point.

I believe that you should have more Kenny Loggins on your show and Michael Macdonald,
Richard marx, Eagles, Little Feat, CCR, etc.
Bring back the real musicians and singers who have been around for awhile as well as the new ones. We have seen Crosby Loggins on the Rock the Cradle, great!! Its great to see their fathers there too, bring them back as well.!!!!!!!!
We need to see as well as new ones, the ones that have started in the music business, lets bring back some history!! Us viewers are of all different ages and we still need to hear and see the history of Rock and Roll and see the ones who have been around even 20 - 30 or more years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey Thanks.
