MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

Your website sucks. You really need to hire people that know what they are doing. The videos don’t work correctly - always buffering and not playing continuously, links don’t work and the performance is SLOW. Hire a new webmaster!

How come when you guys salute hip hop you never talk about Oaktown’s 357. They were with Hammer from the beginning and I think were a part of revolutionizing dance in hip hop. I know everyone loves Salt and Pepa, but 357 deserve their props too.

I am deepily offended prior to watching the video of real world : hollywood .As an african american i feel Kim was completily in the wrong when she said “blacksfille” and “lets not get getto” she made her self seem extremily innorgent and foolish . I would appreate an public appolige because im more than sure im not the only one that feels this way. she is comming off as racest . I mean hasnt the young people of to day learned from all the civil rights .Kim is from the south and so am i so she should expectily have seen the effect and burden racism has on people . I’m not one to judge thats why i would like to give kim a chanse to clear her name .

I have been working on an idea that I have had for a very long time over a ten year span. Most of it talking to the bands and people on the street on what they think about my idea and if it could be pulled off. So now I am writing to you to see if this dream can be a reality for everyone involved. With the proceeds going to help the children!
(Cancer, Blindness, Autism, Hearing, MS, and about a few hundred more.)
The thing is, this idea I have, takes a lot of work and a lot of music from everyone involved. This can be done with all of us working together as one.

I just want to know why you guys play top model all the time on MTV! it’s so annoying! I mean, you guys have so many shows! Play some old sketch comedy’s! (Not Wild’n Out Please!) You’ve got so many shows, replay the VMA’s once in a while, some old Real World Seasons, ect. For crying out loud find a time slot to replay TRL daily! Everybody doesn’t want to watch Top Model anymore.

the Target add always freezes the screen when it ends during shows. please fix this or stop playing the add, i am constantly having to restart the video and hope for a different add so i can continue to watch.

This website is fine, however, you should just change your name to the America’s Next Top Model channel. I can’t believe you have no better, original programming to put on your own channel and what does America’s Next Top Model have to do with music? What do any of the shows on this channel have to do with music. I know you spend a ton of marketing dollars on MTV and the best you can come up with is America’s Next Top Model reruns from 4 years ago? Why aren’t you firing all of your programming executives at this point? Your channel has turned into a pathetic piece of garbage. MTV was edgy at one point many years ago…

Yo MTV i have been watching the real world for years now and there is one thing that bugs me. I’m From the H you know Houston, Texas or H-Town and the thing that bothers me is we haven’t had the Real World Houston? Whats up with that? But its cool ya’ll keep it real on the real world and i’ll continue watching but it would be nice for the H to have mtv bless us with the real world. Peace!

I and a group of friends from Pittsburgh are in our early 30’s and love MTV. I have been watching for years and continue to watch, even the shows that some of my younger employee’s say I am too old to watch. I will always support MTV but what is the deal with Americas Next Top Model????? The show is absolutely HORRIBLE and is on ALL THE TIME!! If you are going to play something all the time please play shows that appeal to all viewers. My girlfriend use to model and she hates the show. I am not gonna sit here and complain but I can’t be the only one that feels this way! Play it sometimes for the people that like it, but please don’t torcher us 24/7 for the MTV viewers that don’t like it. AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP THIS CONCERNED VIEWER WHO WANTS HIS MTV BACK! Thanks, Dominick

i cant even watch any of the full episodes of anything all it lets me watch is the damn commercial before the show and then it tells me it is buffering and doesn’t ever bring me to the show! extremely irritating! i cant watch my show at all now!
