MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

i would like to say you are damaging lives with your shows and your videos they demoralize women and make them objects of lust. you may not be the reason kids are the way they are when it comes to how they see women and why women feel they have to be objects of lust and lured at forced to respond to cat calls you might not be the reason but you are a contributor and I am Praying you change the way you depict women on your programs this affects men and women and it upseting to Jehovah God bless

My Name is Ash Ashraf and I am a certified lighting designer here in Arizona. I have been desiging lighting for last 8 years. I watch most of the MTV crib. I am sock and tired to see all these Millions of Dollars home and they have no good lighting in their home. Can some one help me to hock up with one of this famous artist and let me do a free lighting consultation with them? I can guarantee you that after my visit the home owner’s idea will be change. With out a proper lighting it is a like a beautiful woman with out make up. Hope some one will get back to me with that.

I noticed that on most of your shows you guys usually show in the top right corner, the name of the song playing and the artist. Well recently, I noticed on a new episode of “the Hills” there were two different Britney Spears songs playing, and there was NOT a notation in the top right corner for either of them! I don’t think that’s right. It should be fixed. That’s all. Thank you. ~JamiLa

Your videos stink. Every time I try to watch one, it has to buffer every 2 minutes and it’s so annoying. I tried to watch some shows but I finally said forget it because it was so annoying. Congrats MTV.com you just lost a viewer

i’m not sure if this is the best way to reach you guys at MTV, but this is some what of an emergency situation. i’m a senior at alief taylor high school in houston texas. my very best friend, one of the most popular kids in my school, and a “most likely to be famous” nominee is going to miss the highlight of high school. he’s going to miss prom because he simply can’t afford it. he has to pay bills at home and he has a lot of responsibilities at home. if there’s any way possible, it would be greatly appreciated if MTV could help me and my friend.

I would like to know how a station named “MUSIC TELEVISION” (mtv) airs everything but music. Should’nt you play music more than anything else. I mean I watch MTV to catch up on the latest in music news and videos but aside from TRL all i see everyday is those silly reality shows and what not…whats up with that??

You may recognize them from a movie called, “Just My Luck” with Lindsey Lohan.
McFly fans have been trying to get McFly in America for a long time. I am hoping, if this video makes it on Trl, and you give them some exposure, they will make many more fans, and hoefully will come to America and tour.

My wife is a kindergarden teacher in Perris,Ca a title 1 school. Kids here are well not as priviledged as in other communities and well hell they need some teachers aids for the day that could really impact their lives. Rob and Big would clear that void….and they would have a blast doing it…Plus their is a couple awsome skating oppurtunities along the way….Hope they would be willing to make the difference in our troubled scholl system……..

Ok -is your MTV program director just lazy or is he/she sleeping with Banks. I’m sick of looking at the TV guide every weekend only to find American Top Model playing all day. Doesn’t take much to play the same series over and over and over. Damn MTV you guys are sure going down hill with your programing. I loved to have the easy life and top pay of your program director!!!
