MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

Will you be putting out a music cd of all the remixed songs America’s Best Dance Crews? I really love the remixed “all that jazz”. I looked for it on itunes but couldn’t find it.

Hi.
I usually watch The Hills from your site since I live in Sweden. The last three weeks there has been problems everytime!!! It’s VERY annoying. This time the loader says I have to have the latest flash plug-in. I have down-loaded that five times and nothing happens! Why doesn’t it work?!
Please fix this! All this trouble makes me less interested in your site.

since the launch of the new The Hills website, I’ve been having problems to watch it. everytime I try to select the latest episode, it freezes up, blocking my whole computer and I have to restart my computer. I encounter this problem as well when I want to change the size to fullscreen with the eposides from the past three weeks. HELP!! Im dying to see what’s happening!! thanx k

ya’ll need to put your old show scratch and burn(2002) on dvd. that was one of the best shows out and it was short-lived.its just my opinion but mostly all the shows now are whack.bring back the old days

My friends and I at Carnegie Mellon U. are loyal viewers of The Hills. However, since we dont have TV’s in our dorm rooms we have to watch it online- AND IT DOESN’T WORK ANYMORE! Please get this fixed as soon as possible.

None of the video episodes of the Hills are working. This is highly dissapointing! This has been going on for three days now and nothing has changed. I know that I am not the only one who is having these issues based on the previous comments. I enjoy coming to your site but if I have to I will navigate somewhere else to a working site and not return to this one. : [

can you show something else instead of playing these tired re runs of Americas Next Top Model….show Daria or South Of Nowhere or Gossip Girl…even Undressed STOP PLAYING AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL PLEASE!!!!! and why didn’t MTV show a Real World marathon before the season premire of the Real World Hollywood???? wtf????????????????? what is going on with MTV? im soooo dissapointed….can you have an 8th & Ocean marathon and since you show true life all the time can you show true life i’m getting breast implants the one with the stripper and the girl that got breast reduction…..and try to due an update show oohh and mabey bring back The Real World Hawaii cast like you did for Las Vegas and why did Austin win best season “WTF” Denver was better and soo was las vegas hands down…and since yall don’t play music videos anymore why is this station still called MTV?? it should be called RTV with all these damn reality shows yall show “MTV” AKA RTV yall need to get it together seriously…listen to Justin Timberlake

I am just wondering how I can get my car on ‘pimp my ride’ , because it is some real need of some pimpin’. It is a 95 Pontiac Grand Prix that had a very fast engine in it, but now it is not running and I would really like to fix it up. I am really short handed on some extra cash considering I have 4 children and a wife. Everyone knows that those things all cost alot of money, lol!!! Hook it up MTV and show someone how it really works.

I was looking for the cd I think it was mtv’s various artists that had stevie ray vaughans pride n joy unplugged playd on a twelve string. Also one time you had stevie ray vaughan on a acustic unpluged on mtv. Could you tell me what volume on mtv’s various artists that had pride n joy it also had a song by elton john on the same cd. Could you tell me if you had the Stevie Ray Vaughan unpluged taping from the mtv or how I could get a copy of that.

Thank you MTV for bringing us Rob and Big for 3 seasons. Unfortunately it won’t be back due to Big moving on with life but hopefully Rob and the crew can come up with something. This is a great, genuine, and funny show that my wife and I enjoyed to its fullest. If not, the only thing I want to say to Rob, Big, Drama en the rest of the crew is THANKS FOR THE LAUGHS and BEST OF LUCK IN LIFE. Another sad supporter of the show signing off.

I grew up with MTV since the late 80’s and 90’s and I want to know what happened to the MUSIC in Music Television? Every time I turn you have a reality show or something that usually has nothing to do with music or videos, I am not alone in this and a large group of us are trying to see if there can even be an option to not have MTV included in basic cable/satelite programming as we can see enough reality show and reruns on other cable networks. I am very disappointed in the direction MTV has gone- the phrase “I Want my MTV” is null and void at this point

How comes the interviews you have on your website are only able to be viewed in the US? Me and my friend are geeky losers who love Twilight and wanted to watch some of the interviews but it said that its only allowed to be viewed in the US and were in the UK.. Thats unfair!.. Why can’t UK view it?

hi..i would suggest there are lots of good looking singles from good families out there in mumbai india (singles from all fields not really actors and models..really not happening dude..they simply do shows for publicity..but real people from various fields,architects,designers,yoga teachers,computers,bussiness people..) wanting to get settled but unable to find suitable partners.. pls start a show that would bring lots of singles together to interact and see if they are compatible? i would definitly be a part of this show as a participant..a neat and clean show with an aim to bond two unknown individuals.. think about it !! and pls do let me know..

I am not sure how to get this message across to the correct people but I would like to see and hear more music played on CMT and far less tv shows!!
I remember when CMT stood for quality Country Music Programing and not a bunch of reruns of old tv shows.

I think that MTV should have a weekly or bi-weekly new playlist for parties. Every weekend i know of people looking for new songs to play at parties and what not. So i think this is something you should look in to.

Trying to watch Rob & Big episodes on my broadband connection. It buffers like every 3 seconds for 10 seconds. Pausing doesn’t help the situation at all. Funny b/c your commercial played immediately and perfectly without interruption. Rediculous. Email me when you think have a solution and I’ll try your site again.
