MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

I watched Al B. Sure’s! son perform the composition (A Woman’s Work/This Woman’s Work) by Maxwell, and the young fella did a magnificiently, marvelous job. He nailed it. The low scores by the judges was underserved. The judges robbed that young man. When in a competition such as that, of that magnitude, you can easily break the spirit of a young person by not being fair to them. The young man’s performance needs a second review. He was splendid. He was dynamite.

If yall can not find anything to play on tv do music videos. yall are called mtv which is music tv. SO PLEASE GET THAT SHOW OFF THE AIR WE ARE TIRED OF IT.

I was think that you guys should make MTV JPN here in Hawaii also maybe Cali,NY here in Hawaii we have a lot of Japanese students, plus are main income is Tourist.
So i just thought i know a lot of Japanese friends that would love to always watch that channel and also a lot of people who love to learn the language.

I must say Mtv has reached an all time low with another liberal propaganda movie such as StopLoss. I must say that this is quite disturbing, I use to be a huge fan of Mtv, but I have lost all respect for the station, well the entire corperation. I don’t make millions of dollars to act in some movie, nor do I sing, act, or dance. I am a vetran of Operation Iraqi Freedom 1 & 3. I can’t believe how far fetched this movie is, there is only one true war movie that I will ever watch, “We Were Soldiers.” I met the real reporter that was portraied in that movie. He is a real reporter that doesn’t put a liberal twist or conservitive spin. He is the last true reporter, and it breaks my heart. Well, good luck Mtv and keep on making money off of crap!

This isn’t really about the website, but more about shows on MTV. MTV should think about playing previous Real World seasons while a new season isn’t currently featured. Just a thought. haha

I think MTV should include more music in their lineup of shows. Afterall this is Music television. There used to be a block between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. of just videos. I miss being able to watch rock videos, neo soul videos, hip hop videos and new artists when I wake up in the morning or before I go to sleep. Also I think MTV should play a weeklong marathon of past Real World seasons. You should call it Real World Week. Maybe before the next season of Real World premiers you should do it to promote the upcoming season.

Hey MTV is a really good channel with great shows but they lack playing them. I really miss America’s Best Dance Crew and I think there should be a marathon of it! You play a lot of shows that don’t even belong in MTV and a lot of people still want to watch America’s Best Dance Crew! It is the best show ever on MTV and probably even the best ever created! So MTV I hope you hear me out and play an episode if you don’t play a marathon!- thanks

MY FRIENDS AND I DID A HIGH SCHOOL PRANK THAT IS NOT BEING SHORT LIVED. WE CHAINED THE DOORS SHUT TO PREVENT SCHOOL THE NEXT DAY.

Not that I’m hatin on Tyra or anything, but I think that America’s Next Top Model is overplayed. I’m not the only one who thinks that, a lot of my friends do too. I think that the episodes are cool every once and a while, but lately all I’ve been seeing when I turn my tv on to MTV is America’s Next Top Model. I think it might be sending a wrong message to young viewers, when all they see when they turn on the tv is these stick-thin woman who are trying to become models. I think that MTV could be a little more creative with what they put on air…

i was reading or watching somewhere, that the episodes of true life with the greatest responses were the ones regarding body image. I think an episode about eating disorders would be a fantastic idea! Bulimia, Anorexia,and overeating or binge eating alike. I think it would generate a HUGE range of fans and help people with these disorders to see that they are not alone, and people without it to understand. I think it would be an amazing feat for mtv to get these people to open up and show there life styles to viewers across america. Just a thought!

I really think that its time you stop playing america’s next top model all day everyday.. you have other shows and to be honest its not the best show and when there is nothing ever on mtv it makes me not want to even go to mtv anymore.. its seriously all you play and i am speaking on behalf of a large group of people i know.. one or two episodes here and there are great but all day everyday is sickening!! put on your other shows!

Dear MTV,
I would like to nominate my 18 1/2 year old daughter for “Pimp my Ride” TV show. She has a PT Cruiser which is purple and she hates it - hates the color and style of the car. But I am a single mom who could not afford a nice vehicle for her. She got my old vehicle and I bought myself the newer vehicle.
She attends college and is enjoying her first year of community college. She is a really good tap dancer. She used to compete and she won 2nd in the nationals. She likes old school tap which means Gregory Hines, Sammy Davis Jr. Her car would be a tribute to all the great tap dancers. Her favorite color is bright green. Please let me know how to enter her for the show.

Fix the “Hills” player already. It’s been over a day. Or at least post a note about what’s wrong and when you expect it to be fixed.
