MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

I really hope you read this and it hits your heart the only way you made it to the next round is to keep you from overdosing or something you should have never tried to perform in this show because you wouldn’t win if it was average people out there!!! I’m would love to make you idiots watch hours and hours or reruns of the crappy show “America’s Next Top Model” until your heads explode. I swear thats what your trying to do to us. Hi I am from the UK and I have watched Season 1, 2 and 3 up to episode 21 of The Hills. I really want to watch episode 22 and 23 and it says overdrive will not allow it to play. I can’t see any episodes now including the ones I have already watched. So why is this overdrive thing on here now and was not before?

Ok i think its absolutely ridiculous that you play americas next top model re-runs all damn day. Since when did MTV become the fashion channel. Doesnt it stand for music television? Instead of playing stupid re-runs all day why dont you start playing more videos??? thats what mtv is suppose to be about anyway… VIDEOS… seriously its really annoying i cant express it enough. This has nothing to do with the website but it has to do with the show and other shows like The Wild Boys.
There is no ethical or moral problem with people wanting to act dumb in order to get money and fame. But the problem lies with using animals for your act and entertainment. I recently saw a show where a cheetah was being stressed out and taunted by Bam while he and his friends ferociously laughed. The cheetah was giving constant “calm down” signals in order to alleviate his suffering. This also happened with several monkeys. Even though they are not physically harming the animals, the emotional abuse that is being put on them is ethically wrong. There is no problem with human acts of stupidity, but there is no reason why an animal should be brought into it. For instance, a monkey will %$?%#~##?# when it is overwhelmed with stress and cannot cope with the situation. Even though it could be entertaining to watch for uneducated people, it is demoralizing and abusive to have an animal reach to such a point for pure entertainment. It is also not right to put an animal under so much emotional distress because after the show (which no one sees) the animal is usually left mentally scarred from the situation. So I am in favor of keeping your show for dumb entertainment, but do the rest of the living and feeling creatures a favor and leave them out of it!

You also need to take in consideration how many young kids are watching the shows that laugh and think that it is appropriate to do this to animals. The world has come a really long way to show and educate the public about animals, and to have them mentally abused on national tv is innapropriate and really setting back the humans many years in culture modification.

I can’t even watch CRIBS. When you live in poverty with no jobs around, you have to worry about making the mortgage, car payments…I love most of your shows that make me smile & laugh, but when I have to look at a man holding up two watches & bragging that they cost millions of dollars.

Please no more America’s Nex Top Model. I can’t believe MTV is doing another weekend of ANTM marathons!!!! Some people can only watch on weekends and this is the only show that is ever playing. I’m writing about the progamme which is begin telecasted on MTV india channel, the progamme name is MTV Roadies, it is one of the worst shows i have come across, everyone has bad comments on this show. Either there should be a change in the entire programme, if this continues we will stop watching the channel. Please make sure that right effort is begin taken to make the show better.
