MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

I remember when mtv did the back to new york season before it started they did a marathon of all the real worlds why can’t you do that before the 20th season starts I don’t understand why you haven’t done a reald world marathon I am tired of americas next top model being on every weekend it’s getting old real fast!!!!!!!

I just have to say that on the hills episode 323:just be careful, my friends song is played and is not mentioned under the music from the episode. The song is “Loud and Clear” by Whitney Wolanin and it plays when heidi and stephanie are walking to club vice! please change this and give whitney some credit!

I do not appreciate that you allow people to say the cuss word g.d. on TV but ya’ll will bleep out other cuss words. Example: Allowing Panic at the Disco to sing the part of the song “I Write Sins not Tragedies” on a commercial that has the word g.d. in it makes no sense to me. I realize some people do not believe in God, but try to respect the people who do.

Please get rid of spencer and hidie from the hills. Spencer is a poor excuse for a boy that will never be a man bc he is so insecure and LAME. Hidie well pretty much the same thing. LOSER. I used to love the hills (even if I am 26 it is fun to see what you can do when mom and dad pay for everything. I can’t stand to watch the hills anymore bc of spencer and Hidie. And Stephanie. UUU y in the world would you allow spencer to stay at your house when he isa so disrespectful and trys to controll your life like he doeshidies. So Lame. I hope stephanie doesn’t turn oput to be as lame as Hidie and Spencer. Although I might not ever know bc I can’t stand to look at either of them and their drama takes up so much of your show. While watching MTV and that Panic at the Disco sceens I came across one whe nthe group was singing and MTV made the mistake not to block out the GD word. I was very suprised and disappointed and I hope that you will make the change! thanks

I am having trouble watching the Hills Episodes due to copyright laws which restrict MTV from airing the show outside the US…which somehow I don’t understand as I was able to watch episodes without any issues last week. I am from the UK.
Is anyone experiecing a similar problem? Does anyone have an answer?

every time i try to watch the hills it freezes right before the add is about to end. i have to skip the add everytime in order to make sure it wont freeze and sometimes it doesn’t even start. it isn’t my connection because my connection is fast. please fix this it is annoying.

i just wanted to write in and say i think my town is full of over the top DRAMA!!!! and it all revolves somehow around my family. i think there should be a NEW show on that has the same concept of LAGUNA BEACH OR NEWPORT HARBOR. but in a WAY smaller town. trust me there is so much drama that goes on here. i joke around saying what season we are in. lol right now it is the 17 season just this year.lol.it is sooooo crazy!!

I just watched the episode of Cribs with Benji Madden and was seriously outraged at his “pet” tiger on a 4 foot chain attached to a tree. I am just a normal person, not an animal activist. I can’t believe this is 1.) legal or 2.) morally responsible. How can MTV just show that so nonchallantly? I have to believe I was not the only one questioning what the heck Benji and the MTV producers are thinking? Thanks for listening and I hope there are better days in that poor tiger’s future.

Now I realize I am not the typical demo for this show, but I caught about 10 minutes of your series “My Sweet Sixteen” (not sure on the exact verbiage) and I had to leave someone some feedback.
Are you kidding me?
This is what we’ve come to for entertainment? Snotty, demanding, spoiled children yelling and screaming at their terrified parents because they didn’t get the right Porsche being broadcast for all to consume?!?
I hadn’t watched this show before, and while I thought I was still pretty hip (and very hip in my day…at least I thought so!) I couldn’t help but think one phrase…

Can you guys update more often episodes on your webpage? I liked how with America’s best dance crew it was updated regularly with new video on the episodes. I would love to click on my favorite shows and be able to watch new video.
