MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

I have also been having problems with the website! I really want to watch The Hills too, but my computer always says “loading..” I can watch other shows on my computer from other websites, its just that this one never works! fix the problem please!

Hey MTV….actually what I was looking for if there was a way to get the songs that the dance crews dance to b/c I love the mixes and I’m also a radio personality at a local radio station from where I live. Thanks

I was trying to find information about a video version shown on MTV at the 1990s. It was only shown few times before a later version of the video replaced the original. Although a full video presentation list by artist would be almost astronomically lagre, it would make it possible to search teenage memories and emotions of an entire generation. Thank you.

I’ve noticed a few people asking about this. But just to make sure you get the message I will write a little something about it myself. Okay so TRL is the best show ever. But you know what would make it better? Leavin’ by Jesse McCartney being the number one video. Me and my friends love that video and we went to go vote for it and we couldn’t find it. We were sad and on the bottom it said feedback, we figured this is kind of feedback. So now we are posting this.

I am so happy that someone saw fit to put a dancecrew contest on TV. I have been waiting for this. It is good to see our young people push themselves to the limit on their God given talent. I am a senior citizen, and have been waiting for something like this. Please keep this show going. There has not been anything this good on in a long time. THANK YOU!!

The ending of this season makes me not to watch next season the group that I thought you should get rid of the whole season won. The group who could actually dance should of won. Staus que was the best. I don’t care what you say cause you just proved that you do not know what you are talking about.

Okay so the show was great as expected up until the last part with Kanye West’s remix of Daft Punk “Harder,Stronger,Faster”. This is a total rip off of the Daft Punk verison and why choose this to end the show.Especially with so much conterversy about this song?
Most people don’t care about West and him and Daft Punk performing together. It’s about him doing something that he shouldn’t have done in the first place.
I don’t know the particular’s about why you used this version but it wasn’t the best choice to “America” who voted on this show.

I Freda think that Randy Jackson should get a Youth America’s Best Dance Crew also during the summer because that is the only time that they can perform during their summer break. I understand that mtv is a bussiness and selling records, appealing to youth, and pluging products is a natural part of the process, but I have a mojor comment regarding America’s Best Dance Crew… the show was very well done, myself along with many other hip hop heads in santa fe loved watching week after week. But I must say i couldn’t understand why the two final crews were made to work with the choreography of an artist that didn’t represent the style of either crew. The choice (at least in my mind) seemed to detract from the overall intergrity of the show. During the entire process (specifically regarding jabbawockeez) the choreography brought by the crews shined brighter than anything I had previously seen in the mainstream. I must add that one of the major reasons this show appealed to me and many other like minded individuals, is the fact that the commercial aspect of the business was not placed at the forefront, that is important to hip hop and the broader spectrum of music. Expression here is the key, appealing to the mainstream isn’t the goal. (for record sales yes, for art no!)

I think you need to take these stupid shows off of here and put the music back on. After all it is a music channel. These shows are not worth viewing.

MTV needs to stop with the whole Yelle thing. She’s done nothing but get on our nerves from the get-go. Until she can make music, you’d be doing us a favor by making her shut up.

I love America’s Best Dance Crew, it is the best show ever. i would set a time to watch it over and over and over, and even go on mtv.com to watch it. anyway i just wanted to know if you guys are planning to release it out on dvd, because i know alot of people who want to buy it. well anyway if you guys are planning to, i can’t wait to get on my hand on it. and watch it over and over again. I just watched the BALCK CROWES Unplugged show……….it was half Plugged. Don’t get me wrong it was good, but not an unplugged program. Their arrangment could have met the standards of the show and been great. Korn firgured it out………………….why not chris robinson?

What happened to the “M’ in MTV. It’s not Music Television anymore. It SHOULD be called “RTV” for “Reality Television”. There used to be straight blocks of time where it was straight music videos. The only place I know for sure I can catch music videos anymore now… is TRL… What’s up with that. I know Reality TV is where its at nowadays… but the music never dies!

Hello MTV,
I’m appreciative of your sharing with the public the truth about Paganism. I do have a problem with the video. “Not all Pagans look like me”. It’s true. But showing mostly (99%) goths doesn’t really portray the diversity of the Pagan community at large. There are many other Pagans who could be interviewed and appear. Again thank you for sharing some truths about Paganism and Witchcraft but I’d like to see better real Pagans in the videos or clips since those can get more attention than the article.

What is happening to MTV? What ever happened to the “M” in Music???? It should be called RTV for “Reality Television”. Seriously, MTV sucks now!!! You guys put Re-runs of the same show all day… That needs to change! I am not the only person that feels this way.. So many people have become disappointed and have stopped watching it for these same reasons! 10 years ago you guys were the best, but now, you’re only a channel like any other.. boring, disappointing, and predictable! Take my advice and bring back the music! Don’t be controlled by all of the reality shows!

Is it possible to enter your car in a Pimp My Ride Show to be fixed up? I have a 1976 Gold Cadillac and I drive it to work everyday. It’s in bad shape, but it runs good. And I love the car, but the body isn’t good. I would be willing to drive to California and stay there for a show if you all would Pimp My Ride. Any way you want!
