MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

So I’ve been thinking….Mtv needs something new. Something to make it fresh again. I’ve done research, and alot of kids are straying away because there’s not really anything keeping their attention anymore.
I’ve come up with some new marketing plans that I would like to pitch to someone there at MTV.

A little dark in here, don’t you think? And with greater disposable income . . . and larger populations . . . and greater accessibility . . . . . . AND STILL YOUR SALES CONTINUE TO DECLINE! And you people continue to blame ‘down-loading’ — yet attendance at these events y’all label as “concerts” also continue to decline. You just don’t get it, do you? People (music loving people) just don’t want to have anything to do with you. A little too dark in here? . . . you don’t know just how dark it is in there with you and the lack of echo.

MTV, for a few years you all have been airing some of the filthiest shows on cable t.v., which is why I hardly ever watched your network, until Randy Jackson’s dance show. This show is so positive,energetic and fun for the entire family. I just want to say thankyou for taking a chance on a show that doesn’t have people infecting each other with Mono and God only knows what else!!!

I think MTV has proven that they are TRULLY RIGGED! after watching America’s Best Dance Crew “how in the hell did Status Q get on TOP?!! that was so impossible i’m thinking alot of people would like to really see the REAL RESULTS! ya’ll clearly wanted east against west! it wasnt worth it in the end every one liked Kaba and Jabba. ya smell me??? anyways this goes out to the PRODUCERS OF AMERICA”S BEST DANCE CREW OR WHOEVER THAT THOUGHT OF THIS STUPID PLAN.

FIX ur shows some of them directly goes to a different show!! probably because ya’ll are riggid and dont want the shows to be on for some reason. after i see the results for america’s best dance crew (hopefully its not the clowns that take the crown) i will NEVER WATCH MTV AGAIN AND SO WILL MANY PEOPLE WHO FEEL THAT YOUR SHOW has proven its riggid-ness because its right infront of our eyes lol. Why is it, because heavy metal isn’t the most popular form of music you get rid of the video’s heavy metal fans want to see? I tried viewing the Dimebag Darrell 1966-2004 video and it is no longer available. Why is that? Did the dude who made thousands of kids pick up guitars suddenly become yesterday’s news?? Just because he’s not still making headlines?? Dimebag Darrell meant so much to metal heads around the world and MTV just lets the video they made of his life go to waste?!?! There is no respect shown for this man who showed nothing but love to his friends and fans. MTV has sunken to a new low if they will not let this video be shown and keep saying “unable to retrieve video.” Please, make this video available for view and give Dimebag Darrell some respect in some way, shape or form. I love the show Parental Control and have it set on TIVO. It is the one of the few shows that I watch on MTV, but it seems like lately it has not been on much and all of the shows are repeats. Will you be taping more shows, and could you show a broader array of episodes? Thanks!!

I think the success of the Making the Band TV show brought much success to both Danity Kane and I think the viewers are really getting back into purchasing albums instead of downloading them illegally. With the music industry suffering the way it has been, i think MTV should take more responsibility to air programs like such …to stimulate the purchase of music so that hard-working artists can be compensated. My suggestion for a music/recording artist based reality show would be…Brandy …Her new album is in the works and I think alot of fans would like to see her through the album-making process, as well as re-introduce her to a new generation of fans. Other artists coming back soon, Whitney Houston… and Michael Jackson…just a thought…take it into consideration

This was a great show. It had better stuff than “So you think you can Dance”. The only thing I would change is get rid of Lil Mama. She sounds stupid. Did she go to school? And JC really doesn’t know much about dancing. Great show though.

Hello I am glad there is a new “Real World” but when are you going to start showing the real world. I’m sure you can supply some youngsters in towns who already drink with some ore drinks . But they will be people already trying to pay bills. This is real. Not True life but a real real world. It is way more “drama” none for the camera, you know. Ay least think about it.

I am a paraylzed veteran with a 1986 GMC Rally van at all these shows i was going to all carshows, and watch all the tv shows of pimp my ride . seen a set-up van with lift package and 6way seat ,went to apply to get pimp my ride to do my van $86.00 if pick if not lose the money this is what i was looking for some one that would pimp my ride i am turning 50 and don’t have the funds to fix this up
