MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

listen guys i heard every kind of music there is but i heard one band that if there not on mtv they would just have to be,they are a local band in south florida. played at revolution, churchills, south beach clubs ,they are the next big thing in punk rock im mean this group is setting south florida on fire. one song miles apart is breaking down all doors.so if you can email this group tell them what you think.support your local bands that have more talent than some of this music i hear.

I have been watching dance crew for the last several weeks. I have never been so disappointed with a show as last night March 13th. I was appalled as to what the judges did to the group breaksk8. They were not my favorite group but the judges where totally unfair and prejudice as to the task and song choice that Breaksk8 were given. It was an impossible task for them to achieve but even then Breaksk8 were superior dancers to coma madre. I had said their was an issue before lil mama ever said anything. I felt that the judges set up breaksk8 to fail because they were the only competition against jaba wakies. I am so sorry that things have to be this way and the Judges must think the american public is stupid. the problem is that most of the people who watch the program would not make an issue of this or notice but lil mama brought it up. I hope someone will read this

Ok, well either I’m an idiot or you guys aren’t making this user-friendly enough. All I want to do is watch that old video “Turning Japanese,” but I don’t remember who the artist is. I see where you say we can watch any video ever made, but it looks to me like I’d have to know who the artist is. What if you only know the name of the song? That’s not too much to ask, is it? Or why don’t you make it so I can click on the desired decade at least, so it’s less frustrating. Anyway, would you be a dear and send me an email regarding how I can most easily get to the video I want, whether using the name of the song itself or artist or whatever? Thanks? Cartman.

To the director of Dance Crew,
Please, PLEASE stop cutting to so many cameras during the performance. Stay with a wide shot so that we can see the flow and entirety of the perfomance. You would never see a director of a football broadcast cut to a close-up in the middle of a play. Save your medium shots, side angles and close-ups for the replays. You’re killing the viewing pleasure with all the camera switches. Just my 2 cents worth.

that for the 4.02 date at the People’s Court it says it’s in Ames. But it’s
actually in Des Moines.

I’ve been extremely disturbed and disgusted by the current MTV. I used to love it several years ago when the primary things played were videos. Now, on the sexist staged “reality” shows, women are objectified and things are said that are beyond vuglar.
Many young children watch MTV and are imitating the things they view.

Im fairly certain your company owns Nickelodeon. I just saw a commercial promoting a new program called “Im American,
Theyre not”. Im sure that your airing the program to bring “awareness” to the plight of the children of illegal immigrants, but I hardly think a childrens network is the proper place for this program. Im also sure that this email will fall upon deaf ears. Please dont use our children to promote a particular political agenda. Im somewhat of a fan of Nickelodeon and I think most of your programming is acceptable for my children. Hopefully someone that cares will get this email. Thankyou for your time.

Just wanted to say hello to an old friend of mine Mr. Howard Schwartz and express my delight on his part in such an outstanding show. Howard this is a blast from the past the choreographer Giovanni L. Pellegrino who moved to L.A. 27 years ago the dancer you that you first met in Florida.
Please continue the wonderful work with this special show. It makes me proud as a dancer/choreographer to see these young kids push it to the limit and leave everything on stage the way I used to. Please please please, release all the old real world seasons on DVD. If you don’t want to do that, you can air all the old shows like daria, real world, beavis & butthead, 120 minutes, on MTV2 during the weekends or something. You seriously need to stop airing America’s Next Top Model marathons every weekend. It’s annoying, and the show sucks. Anyway, you should release the real world seasons on dvd, or make a completely different channel that broadcasts all the old tv shows from MTV. Please consider it!!!!

You show way too much of the same stuff. I quit watching MTV except maybe one or two days a month since I can see everything in that amount of time. Bring different repeats of more reality shows like so you think you can dance. You have worn out americas next top model. I am already SICK of Randy Jacksons dance show along with life of ryan and rob and big since you can see them every day. You need a new program manager because your programming is aweful.
