MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

You should play more videos. MTV sucks now. Its all reality shows and when you do play videos its all hip hop. Play different music.

MTV your awsome amazing the way you guys put everything on the net for us to watch is a great idea, i work two jobs and cant watch all the shows i want to see so its nice to be able to watch full shows when its a good time for me, but where is the new making the band eps. at?

I have a coustomized 1969 cadilac deville its candy apple blue with yellow

I just don’t understand why it takes a week for the new episodes of everything to be able to be viewed online. There is no point in watching them by the time they come out. Other websites such as ABC.com have their tv shows up the same time they are airing on tv, and if you miss it, you can watch it an hour later if you want. MTV makes it so inconvenient to watch these shows online. Is this on purpose?

Ok i know this doesnt really apply to the topic at hand, but i could not find another way to contact MTV. I think MTV should create a new television show with just kenny and evan from the gauntlet on it because they are absolutely hilarious and I would most definitely watch the show.

I think it is really tacky that the new episode of Making the Band is not posted the next day like any other website. Working people like myself really rely on the computer to watch our regularly scheduled shows. Please do what you can to correct this problem.

the Jonas Brothers have almost 100,000 views on their video When You Look Me In The Eyes, but are not on the Most Viewed Video List on mtv.com even though they have 40,000 more views then the number one video has. AND they should be number one on TRL right now as well.
THIS IS NOT OKAY.

i want to watch episode 6 of making the band. the new episode aired yesterday at 10pm and it hasnt been posted up for viewing on the site yet. normally the shows are up right after the show is aired. can we get episode 6 up there?

Okay, anyone who can answer, please help. I’m looking for a music video, i remember it playing sometime in 1993…but it coud have been from before. All I can remember happening in it is a girl under water caught in a net and a guy that keeps bringing her air and blowing it in her mouth. I cant remember at all the tune, the artist, or the name of the song. Please Help.

I know for a fact that many Jonas Brothers fans have benn voting, watching the videos, & commenting them but the amount of views is not going up. I was on the page for over 2 hours & the amount of views never changed or went up all night. Their music is also being played on the radio all the time so they have to be on the countdown tomorrow or there is something VERY wrong with your system.

I have a serious concern with one of the commercials that is being played on your station. I have a parental block on my television where certain programs are not able to be played without a pin number.
I have a 5 year old little girl and a 8 year old. They both think the show Rob and Big is wonderful and hilarious, so I record it for them to watch. During a commercial break there is a commercial promoting the new show Human Giant. Where a man pulls his pants down, the blurred block appears and he “chops off his ****” This is horrible and inappropriate for a commercial!!! My children are no longer to be able to view Rob and Big; which is appropriate because a commercial I worry may corrupt them. Thank you MTV.

Why is MTV called MTV? This is NOT a music station, this is a reality show station. I have LONG ago stopped watching you and feel you need to make up a REAL MUSIC TELEVISION station if you plan on continuing to call yourselves MTV!

i think you should do a show called pimp my mom…where single mother with children who want them to be paired with a good partner. it would be like a extreme make over, and them you would choose out of two or three men.

You have now oficially ruined what used to be a great network in my past. MTV is no more. You need to go back and look at the ideas that MTV was founded on. MUSIC videos. Whatever happend to the MTV we all knew and loved. You have ruined it forever. We want our MTV…they way it used to be. Remember when you used to play music videos? Those were the days. What a concept huh? Why even call yourselved MTV anymore…you sure as hell don’t play music videos.

So I’m writing because I just watched tonight’s episode of the real world/road rules challenge and I thought it was interesting that one of the veterans said that it would be better to compete with a team, other than the rookies, that is at least challenging. I think it would be great if MTV got a group of miscellaneous “regular people” together to show some real competition against the vet’s. I’ll be the first to sign up!

I am a student from Italy that has been in the US since 2002. I feel very offended by the stereotype of Italy that you are portraying through the “That’s amore TV show”. Italy is country made of hard workers and respectuful people. You are instead picturing it as prosciutto, salame, provolone and meatballs.

I think that last episode was TOTAL BS. Live in color won that off the charts. They had all they needed and had a mirraculous preformance. that is a total failed vote. Looked as though little mama and Sparks dint even like it. Quit riggin shows

this isnt really about the website but i just wanted to express my feelings about how horrible MTV has become. that new thats amore show is absolutly pathedic…all of thosegirls are horrible, mean, shallow and rediculous. same with all those hills shows and stuff. what kind of tv is that? whoever likes that stuff…honestly…get a life. this is such crap i cantbelive people actually waste their time watching it. no wonder you havegirls left and right with eating disorders and girls that are horribly depressed even to the point of suicide because of all these ‘mean girls’…get a f***** LIFE! please….

I cannot register on this website because I live in a rural area with a zip code of 89801 which your system says is an invalid zip code!!!! What the heck, I live in Nevada and have for over 30 years and at this zip code for the last 17 years. What else am I supposed to put???? I would like to register to be able to vote!
