MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

Why do you have full episodes for everything except True Life… I’ve been wanting to watch ‘True Life: I’m an Arranged Marriage” but you don’t have it nor do you mention it at all on the True Life page. It seems like you have everything but that. I don’t think it’s been re-aired on TV as much as you re-air all the other episodes either. I’ve heard a lot about that episode but haven’t been able to watch it.

These stations must be broadcasted from a looped recording. Listening to the music on either one will result in duplicate repeats after approximately 2 hours. Also, if you listen to these stations as frequently as I do, you will see/hear the same music structured in the same format days in a row. I enjoy your music and will continue to listen to you but can we be a little more versatile in our music selections? More variation.

There was an episode of True Life where a guy (Thimonthy) and his family were accepted by a program that took them from a refugee camp and set them up in America. I need to know what the name of this program that did this for them is called. I can’t find the name anywhere and MTV doesn’t give any info on it. PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU HAVE ANY INFO! Thanks!

How dare these parents make their kids feel badly b/c of the divorce? It’s hard enough on the kids, but for the kids to have to worry about the parents’ feelings is unforgivable.
If divorce happens, make it as easy as you can on the kids. Not… “Gee, Ryan, I don’t know what I’ll do for Christmas. I lost the lawsuit.”
Are you kidding me? Bad parenting at its finest.

I can not believe that Live In Color is gone!!! It would not be so bad if the judges did not choose that group, Fysh and Chicks, over them. Just because one of the members can tap dance, does not mean they are any better. Live In Color is still the better group. I am very disappointed!!

why do u guys keep posting the commercial for voting for DanityKane and Day26 singles but when i go to the site posted nothing on the entire page indicates where to listen and vote for the songs and i feel that should of been one of the first things to stand out on the page. i love the show and really wanted to hear the singles and its kind af dissapointing

PLEASE change the name of the guys’ group. “Day 28″ reminds me of Sandra Bullock’s movie “28 Days” Are these guys fresh out of rehab???
How about something like “Too Hot to Handle”. “Fire and Ice”, “New Skool”, “Elektry5″, “Push It”. Keep thinking, don’t settle for bland. Danity Kane is a brilliant tag - let the girls name the guys…AW

I can’t believe they voted off Live in Color on America’s best dance crew. They were the only reasoned I watched it each week. The judges need to get their heads examined because the ratings are going to go way down now!

well i do not know where to write but i want to protest for the injustice that happen on america’s best dancecrew today… live in color is not my favorite crew but even I could see that what u guys did was not fair…they dance their heart away and u choose those girls who dance nice but not great..one of the judges once said i do not like sell outs …and that is what u guys are doing because u kept the girls just to keep ratings and not because they are great dancers….the best dancers should be there…and fish n’ chicks are not….why would u defroud us like that…my friends and i meet up every thrusday to see the show and then we vote…cuz we thought these was a great show….and now we see reality……

The Dance Crew Competition is great….but your cameraman sucks!
CONSTANTLY moving the camera around, we MISS part of the performance’s every week!!!!!! Up, over, move here move there…It is STUPID AND RIDICULOUS!!! A straight ahead shot like the judges see would be great. You can see the entire crew all at once performing. Your trying to watch the dancers and the cameraman makes you friggen dizzy trying to watch while he is panning all over the friggen place!!! You watch the show from the TV viewers perspective and you will see exactly what I am talking about. It ruins our viewing whoever came up with that brilliant idea! It sucks!!!!!!!!!!

It was such a travesty that Live in Color was voted off. JC commented at one point that the booty shaking was getting old! That comment may have jaded viewers as to what booty shaking means to the south. I have never viewed NSYNC as a cutting edge dance group. I didn’t even know why he was on the panel. Especially flirting with Coi, from Fish-n-Chics, during judges panel on more than one occasion. The other bias that I saw was the fact that the show seemed to cater to the West Coast groups. There are three groups from the general area whose styles overlap! This leaves great performances but little variety. Live in Color brought that variety!!! I agree that the south is often underated, yet is one of the front runners in the entertainment industry, current day. The industry uses the resources of the south but pays no taxes. This country was built off of imports and exports. MIA, NY and LA are major cities of states that lye on the coasts. When it comes to the streets and the market, it is the people on the streets of these major cities in particular that take european trends and make them marketable to people of all backgrounds, economically and demographically. This allows the Eurocentric culture to capitalize off of street culture, hence groups like NSYNC particularly in the US! MTV is also a by-product of the same market!!! BET was created for and by a people relative to the interests and lack of representation of that people. Groups like Live in Color fall through the cracks due to the politics of the industry, not due to lack of talent!!! They were one of the most diverse groups on the show and I am at least thankful that MTV allowed them the chance to show America! God Bless you Live in Color. God is ultimately in control (know this)! Thank you for representing the 305 to the fullest! Love you guyz.

This is one of the best compititions I have ever seen on T.V., I think all of the crews are ill, but you KNOW last night was bull. Live in Color was one of the top 3 crews in the show, no disrespect to Break Sk8, but now is the time to gracefully go home. Every other crew’s heart is truely in this compitition, it was heart breakingto see the pain in the eyes of Live in Color. Femme 5 was enough of a joke, don’t let this compitition become another fixed reality show.

MTV, i’m really getting tired of the americas next top model re-runs. its about damn time we took that show off …. you’ve played the same episodes over and over and everyday its always americas next top model all day long. dont you think you’ve played it enough? on top of that, you really need to come up with some better shows. you cant seriously think that the dating show with dominico or whatever his name is, is a quality show. what has MTV become? its full of some of the worst shows on TV including, parent control and the endless list of the lamest dating shows ever. As much as I love MTV, i’m definently dissapointed with their shows over the last few years. The only REAL shows left are Real world/Road Rules, The hills, and shows like making the band. thats good reality, the rest is just horrible. you could atleast try harder at hiring BETTER actors for the so called “reality dating shows”.

I just wanted to express my opinion about a show but it doesn’t seem like there’s a place to do that right now… anyway, if someone in programming does read this, I felt compelled to write because this season of Gauntlet III has been nothing more than aggravating to watch, and not because I favor one team over the other but because the teams were set up to have one clear winner and one clear loser. You can’t have 20 people who have all played these types of games several times go against people with very little experience. It’s so obvious what’s going to continue to happen - it’s just like when it was male vs female. I’m not watching anymore, it’s completely predictable and stupid at this point. You get paid the big bucks, come up with a way to make the teams a little more even or you’re going to start losing a lot of viewers.

I would like to say that i love your show, but those judges made a very big mistake on the show that aired 2-28-08 when they let LIVE IN COLOR go. I understand that fysh n chycks brought the tap dancing but they dont compare to LIVE IN COLOR at all. This was the first time that LIVE IN COLOR was ever in the bottom 2 however fysh n chycks has been in the bottom almost every episode. I just wanted to let you all know that those judges made a BIG MISTAKE!!!! The show has to go on and STATUS QUO is going all the way!!!!!!!!

I was looking through MTV.com for past VMA performances through the years and was wondering…..
Why don’t MTV release VMA awards on dvd or just VMA’s past musical performances?
What i mean is to take a year and compile footage from that particular show and feature all the complete unedited performances from that night of the show.
That would be a huge seller to do something like that…hopefully MTV will read this and take some action.

Just wanted to leave comment about America’ Best Dance Crew show. It is a great show but the director constantly ruins it by changing camera angles every 2 to 3 seconds. It is extremely hard to get any kind of appreciation for the dances when there are so many camera angles in such a short amount of time.

I want to express my TOTAL disgust with MTV right about now. I am a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and I felt highly disrespected to see a man on America’s Best Dance Crew not only wearing my letters but had the audacity to cut them up as well. Expect to hear more outrage regarding this issue from other sorors. The show is a good, entertaining show, but the total disregard for Sigma Gamma Rho is completely unacceptable.
