MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

Your Run’s House videos are not working properly. Please fix ASAP so I can catch up on the show. It skips around on the segments. Segment one will not play but segment 2 will. Please fix!

Every time I click on Alicia Keys special performances it gives the wrong link and links to a video of halo 3 critics. I’ve been trying to see the special performance of her singing “If I ain’t got you” that has been airing on MTV as a commercial promoting her as artist of the week. Can you please fix this!!!! THANKS

Hi! Are you going to air any other bits of the EMAs on MTV during a decent time slot? We sure would appreciate seeing some European performers, especially the Bedwetters and Tokio Hotel.

Where is the MADE episode with Dawn wanting to be a beach lifeguard? I believe it is somewhere around episode 10. I was one of her coaches and she worked hard to accomplish what she did. It seems like you guys left her out! What happened?

I’m still disappointed that you did not play Tokio Hotel’s performance on the EMA’s. Please play them next time you play the show. They were by far the highlight of a quite boring show, and it’s such a shame that you neglected to include them.
I also hope you show Tokio Hotel winning the Interact Award. That talented German band was extremely considerate to give their thank you speech in English, despite being in their home country.
Please do not mess up again.

I was really disappointed when I stayed up to see the EMA Highlights show hoping to see Tokio Hotel, or at least one European performer considering it was the European Music Awards. Hopefully their performance wasn’t cut out of the second airing on MTV2.

For the love of GOD please stop playing “A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila” episodes back to back! I do not know a single person who likes that show. It’s horrible and completely uninteresting. My friends and I all love “The Hills”, but we’re completely willing to stop watching ALL of the Mtv shows if this continues. Do the right thing.

When I go to vote for my favorite HBB video, I click on the band “Three” for their video, -All That Remains, and a message comes up saying, “Thank you for voting for 3 Inches of Blood”
Is this a corrupt election, or am I doing something wrong here?

I just wanted to ask you to play Tokio Hotel too. They were also at the EMA’s along with My chemical romance and Avril and they won an award too. And besides their performance was the most exciting. So they also deserve to be played.

Bring back the metal and make people once again say ‘I want my MTV’ and not wish MTV go off the air.

I was wondering if you were planning on airing the entire EMAs? I mean, it’d just be nice if you actually showed more than one European act. And, also, it’d be nice if you showed, at least, all the European and international categories. If you haven’t got the rights to show some of these artists, it’d be really nice of you to tell us so and who you can’t show. Thanks.

One more vote for Tokio Hotel on the EMA broadcast!!! This Friday night on MTV2 show every second of Tokio Hotel, please. Their performance of “Monsoon” had such a spectacular ending it blew my socks off. We need to see these guys on a real TV screen and SOON! Thank you for reading our feedback.

Play some ~%%$$?$ music for once. The whole point of the Europe Music Awards is that it’s NOT JUST AMERICAN BANDS. We want to see the whole thing, just like we want to see the whole of the music awards here.
Specifically, I want to see Tokio Hote. Not just their performance, I want to be able to sit and watch for them to pass by in the background. I want to hear their acceptance speech, I want to be able to see all of that. It’s part of the show, so why would you not show it?
No one’s going to miss it if you spend a little more time on MUSIC and less on slutty whores getting dates and ugly ghetto dumbasses that will install more TVs in your car than they have brain cells.
You are MUSIC television, right? Act like it.

She is a great artist and has come out with a good album. Why must you frame every single episode of every show with “No One”?

I just want you to know, that in the summary of episode six of A shot at Love with Tilla Tequilla, MTV wrote that Bobby jumped on top of Tilla sand completly turned her off during Dani’s date, when really it was Steven who jumped on her and did that.
Bobby had the champaine bubble bath, and steven jumped on her.
Check your facts kids.

To whom it may concern:
I am not writing in response to the new advancements that the MTV website has made, but in response to ” The Hills Live After Show: Episode 14″. The conversation pertaining to dreadlocks, was completely insensitive and proved the hosts and those co-hosting, to be completely ignorant (racist and cultural ignorant)! I just wanted to make them know that their comments succeeded at alienating some of their viewers. Very irresponsible journalism.

We really appreciate being able to see Tokio Hotel’s acceptance of the award for “Inter Act” and their knockout performance of “Monsoon”!
Tokio Hotel’s American fans would LOVE to see more of Tokio Hotel on MTV’s channels…on MTV2 but also regular MTV, because a lot more people have that!

I’m so happy you saw the light that is Tokio Hotel! Also all the other European acts that deserve to be getting some exposure here in America as well. Unfortunately ALOT of people don’t get MTV2, including me, and would really love it if you would run the whole show on the good old regular MTV. That way I won’t have to hate the people that got to see the show when I didn’t.

The whole segment on Alicia Keys needs to go! A bunch of my friends were talking about how it is SO annoying to see her during every commercial break. I thought they were being silly until tonight when I was watching MTV. I used to like Alicia Keys, but after tonight, I cannot stand her. I don’t think she sounds good on any of the segments and the continuous playing is really annoying a lot of people. Just thought you should know.

I agree, the alicia keys commercials NEED TO GO! They are very very very annoying, she doesn’t sound good, they are not needed and it makes me not want to watch MTV because of them. Everytime they come on, which is 4 times per commercial segments, I cringe because they are sooooo annoying! Please remove them for my sanity.

I LOVE watching reality t.v. and what I love even more is the soundtrack playing during each episode of my favorite shows. Hearing a song in the background opens a new door for many new artists… I love how you now are pretty much up to date with The Hills song postings, however, The Real World hasn’t been updated since around episode 5. That’s really upsetting! I’ve been wanting the artist and song title from Episode 15 for two weeks. I now realize I probably won’t be finding out either until the season’s over or until this mysterious group has the song on the radio, if ever. If I’m not mistaken you were originally a channel devoted to MUSIC. That should be the most important thing instead of just an episode summary. I know you have access to what songs are what… you’re the people who soundtracked these songs into the show. Get on the ball eh???

Hi !!!
I would like to talk to you about some stuff which are not working well on this version of the MTV website for Mac users (with Leopard OS).
First, the wide-screen mode is not working ; it’s not cool to watch small video clips !!
Second, there are some problems with the display of the comments of the clips ; you can see weird sentences but not the real comments.
Hope you will be able to fix all those problems !!!
