MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

before things were switched most of the videos worked but u just had to let them load all the way through now they dont load at all and i have to wait for things to buffer every 3 seconds! something needs to be fixed because now its impossible to watch the episodes of any show all the way through!

As everyone is stating, NONE of the videos are working???? I don’t get to watch any of the episodes i like on TV and the only way i catch up on from MTV.COM…but your videos NEVER WORK???? what is the deal? please fix…

I really want to watch my episodes but I cant because of the this buffering and initializing thats driving me nuts. I cant watch them when they are aired because I am at work. Can you please FIX IT.

Yo MTV get your act together. Seriously! I can’t watch any of the shows straight through on Overdrive. What’s up with that? It is so annoying that it makes me not even want to bother. MTV Overdrive is pointless. It is very disappointing. Tsk tsk tsk.

Hey there,
I just wanted to give you guys some feedback. I am a 22 year old male from the midwest. I just recently caught an episode of Parental Controll. I’ve channel surfed and watched some of it here and there, not long enough to really think about though. The most recent time I watched it all the way through, shortly after the first segment, i realized how truly horrible it was. Seriously, what is the target audience for this program? I honestly cant figure it out. The only conclusion i could come to is its for 14 somethings to get their rocks off. Its clearly scripted and the acting wouldnt even make it onto a soap opera set. Were you going for that or was it just an accidental distaster and you just rolled with it? You guys are seriously screwing up.. Step it up! At least do it for the stockholders..

PLEASE FIX THE VIDEOS. Or at least have the courtesy to give your viewers an idea as to what is happening. You are recieving countless of complaints and it seems as though they are being ignored. Please keep in mind that it is our fervent loyalty to MTV that makes it such a major hit.

Hey you guys, I have been STUPID frustrated as well. You can go to www.mtv.ca (it’s Canadian MTV) and watch some updated episodes. They don’t have all the new shows up, but at least it’s something…you can catch up on what you missed of Maui Fever (remember that show? yeah, I didn’t either)

Please MTV, get rid of this stupid BETA launch, that’s when every thing went down hill for you guys. Perhaps the BETA launch, I don’t know, DIDN’T WORK. I know you probably invested WAY TOO much money in it, but sometimes you just have to fire that IT guy, who’s obviously an idiot, and go back to what wasn’t broken.
Since you guys/Viacom (which is basically the same thing) have denied access of the MTV awards in Europe from other every website, you guys are the only place to watch the performances, so please fixt it, so that I can enjoy the performances!!!

Do you know that none of your shows will play on the website??? Sometimes you can watch the 1st clip and that’s it if you are lucky. Can someone please check on this? I really like watching the shows on the websites because I cant stay up until 10pm to catch them…thanks!!!!!!!!

Hey MTV, please give Tila Tequila more work. Give her a position as a VJ or better yet, another episode of a shot of love 2. She has such a huge personality that’s a perfect fit for MTV. She’s so entertaining with her looks and personality. I’ve been watching A Shot of Love over and over again cause it’s so entertaining and sexy. Please make another episode of A Shot of Love part 2. But for part 2, you should let her pick and choose her cast that’s within her age group. Cause a cast that’s too young or too old isn’t going to match her. And the cast that she chooses should only be fans of hers who worships her. Then it’s really going to work. In part 1 of A Shot of Love I can see that the cast wasn’t really in love with her, they were just there to “win a prize” that’s all. And that sucked!!

When are you going to fix the videos? Why update them with new episodes if you are not going to fix them. I was able to watch The Hills on mtv.ca but I’m still not able to watch Run’s House. Please fix.

Somebody needs to fix the videos on MTV.com. I missed the Run’s House episodes last week and all I wanted to do was watch the shows on the website. It is ridiculous that it has to be this hard to watch the reruns on here.

MTV, you did a big NONO by not showing Tokio Hotel’s performance on MTV.
I don’t care if you are a fan of Tokio Hotel or not, that performance was a definate HIGHLIGHT. Even if you hate them, you have to admit, that was freakin’ awesome.

What happen to actually showing Music Video’s on Music Television Video? Why is that your mindless television shows have taken over all of your programing time slots? And your political views are so bias that is not even funny!…Your so far left it’s sad that you have influenced young viewer into mindless zombies. Your not even questioning some of the political figures your supporting. Al Gore is a good example, what kind of plane does he fly in? I am a huge Tokio Hotel fan and last night I stayed up past midnight to watch the EMA’s, I was very, very disappointed that they were never on. I was so excited because I thought that finally Tokio Hotel will be known in America, I thought that they would be on American TV! I sat there and they never came on. Why couldn’t you have shown their performance?? It was a amazing! I’m very, very disappointed.

Last night I was very, very disappointed that Tokio Hotel was not shown on the EMA’s. I was so excited because I thought that finally Tokio Hotel would be on American TV. I stayed up until midnight, midnight! Their performance was amazing and I wanted to record it! I thought that their performance and acceptance of their award was a highlight. Did anyone actually read the New Releases story before adding it the website? Last I checked, Andy Summer was never in Duran Duran and I’m pretty sure thay had an album out about 3 years ago.
