MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

How come you guys don’t feature talent anymore…mostly reality shows that are not really reality? Have you heard about CHARICE PEMPENGCO? Now that is a talent…I thought you are about music and talent all I’ve seen so far are crap.

mtv you could at least release some of your other animaited shows on dvd since you never even show reruns or even have them posted on your website shows like mtv’s oddities-the head,the max. or liquid television,the brothers grunt. please i grew up watching these shows as well as many of my friends did. we also would love it if you made some new eposoides of beavis and butt-head there are alot of pepole that love that show and if you was to bring it back right now it would be a major success. if you still dont think so i will start a potition for new beavis and butt-head eposoides thak you i love you

Why the heck do you only take spoiled rich kids for My sweet 16?
In every episode one little brat gets a mercedez or some nice cadillac. You should at least make another Sweet 16 show where you find teens turning 16 who CANNOT afford a big or even nice party.

MTV, you are crazy for not covering Leona Lewis and her song/video “Bleeding Love.” I don’t know if it’s a contract or sponsoring issue, but she won Simon Cowell’s X-Factor in the UK and is a talent deserving of the coverage in the US. At least add her as an artist on mtv.com, she’s amazing!

I wish I could view and rate your videos. I tried to view the MTV 2007 awards and got the message this cannot be played outside the US….I live in Canada why can I not view it. I get the MTV channel on TV and my computer connection lets me connect to the MTV.com site….normally if the contents was not available to me it would alert me and direct me elsewhere. So what is the reason I cannot view the videos but access the site.

Hey, I was wondering what the song was that you played as a background music when Tila kissed Rebecca in one scene and when Tila chose bobby and Dani was walking away. It had no lyrics and was just a background song. It was right before The Fray. It is not Paralyzed. I’ve had several people ask me also. So if you could provide me with information it would be really helpful.

I have just decided that it is time to turn off MTV “The Real World” from my TV set. I am a father of two wonderful teenage daughters, and the day I let them watch a show that allows a “bitch Boy” like Dunbar condem females by calling them a “dumb ass bitch’s” is not here yet. He degrades the females on the shows and it is totally a disgrace that the network allows it. This is the very reason we have females with such low self esteems. They see this CRAP on TV and think it is acceptable. Well not in my house and not around my daughters. They are 14 and 16 and are old enough to understand, but I dont even want the seed planted in there head, that it ‘might’ be ok to be treated like that. I wish I could get several more backers on this one. What an idiot!

I have to say, every time I watch the episode of True Life: I’m a Jersey Shore Girl, I get angry. Why? Because the episode should be renamed “I’m a Benny.”
Benny stands for Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark, and New York. It is a somewhat derogatory term used for those who do not actually live at the Jersey Shore, meaning those who live more than about an hour away. The girls on that program had New York accents and live 8 miles from New York. They are not Jersey Shore girls, and are the reason people look down upon New Jersey so greatly.
If you had really wanted to do a show on Jersey Shore girls, perhaps you should have found girls that live less than 20 minutes from the beach. People that work at the beach, and can go there year round because there’s no hassle. People that don’t need to go through tolls to get there. And Seaside is one of the most Benny infested areas in the summer. A place such as Lavallette, Manasquan, Monmouth Beach, or Avon may have been more appropriate, but lets hope none of the start overcrowding Avon because Belmar is too crowded.
That episode has sincerely disappointed me, and made it seem as if all Jersey girls care about is boys, clubbing, and hair gel. Those are Bennys, who have made real Shore girls look bad for years.
Thanks for possibly reading, and hopefully not airing that episode any longer to save some reputations.

I’ve searched for the last hour searching for the lyrics to Anthony Hamilton’s Sailing Away and the lyrics to Daydreamin keeps popping up. That is a sad mistake not only by MTV but every site I have gone to. Get some people on board who happen to listen to the music first.

Higher quality videos please. With all the larger monitors out today the videos are blurry and not pleasing to watch when enlarged.

I really feel that the two of them would be so compatible and that she would have a shot at true love with my girl heather. I have an idea for a made or true life show, that I would love to be a part of. I recently failed nursing school, which was my main goal in life, that I had been working for, for the past 5 years. A 1/2 of a point took me out with only one semester to go to graduate with my BSN. So I really don’t have a plan B, but I am a sports fanatic. My idea would be to make me into a professional referee for the NBA. I know so much about the sport and that would be a dream. Sorry for posting this message here, but I can’t find a place to email you directly. Hopes this sounds good.

I’m Evan Rustin of Parkesburg Pa. I’m 16 years old and weigh about 360 lbs. I gotta problem with my weight and it seems no one will help. My mom only makes it worse and my brother just makes fun of me. I have an extremely large problems with the kids at my school. ive tryed diets and binges but nothing ever works. I get pretty pissed when some ass holes make fun of me. It seems like every one around me is skinny and i’m this large thing. I need help and i thought that mabey you can help but if not its cool.

Three and a half months ago, My Chemical Romance had a concert in Noblesville, Indiana. I live in central Kentucky, and this was the closest concert they’d had, even though it was still four hours away.
They were, and still are my favorite band. I, however, have not seen them in concert, due to my sister who wouldn’t take me and my best friend. I was not a happy camper. This did not faze me, though; it was simply just a good reason to write a song to taunt her in to taking us. I wrote the song to the tune of “Welcome to the Black Parade,” and it went like so:

Shortly after all this begging and such occurred, my life went down hill. My mother died after an eight year battle with cancer and a summer for the large part spent in bed. It absolutely destroyed my little twelve year old life, as well as my two older sisters, and my father. I had to stay home with her all summer before that, and had been looking forward to that concert all summer as the only good thing that could have possibly happened. I couldn’t even go outside for fear of something happing, unless one of my family members was there. This was rare, since they all worked but me. I am a thriving student, and an advocate for breast cancer awareness, the disease that killed my mother, who had worked her entire life as a pharmacist, and a very well known and loved citizen of our community.
Please, MTV. If you could help me, that would be wonderful. Thank you for your time, and I hope I will hear from you soon.

Has Mtv hit rock bottom? I haven’t watched Mtv since it quit playing music all day. I happen to be channel surfing and saw”I’m Pregnant”. What a bunch of Losers who can’t be responsible enough to get married and then plan to have children. Showing this program only inspires other losers to follow suit and be welfare cases. That is right, WELFARE. The taxes that we pay go to the pockets of these degenerates. I have my own family and have been 100% responsible for providng for it. I think this show is horrible and is giving the wrong message.

The show is very inspiring teaching other families that unity and constant communication with your parents and siblings make all be as one. I learn a lot from watching the show and always looking for more.
I wish there be a continuation after each episode. Right now it seems that each episode is a different day and sometimes the show leaves you hanging with the question - What happens next? LIke did Angela’s magazine make it? Also like the puppy was taken to the vet (everyone thought she was expecting puppies) what did the vet say?
I still rate the show 10+.

‘A Shot at Love w/ Tila’. It’s by far the greatest dating show. But like all reality dating show, what I don’t understand is, after Tila chose Bobbi, what happened after?? I thought after they choose the one they “love” and wanted to be with, after all that, they don’t get to see each other ’til the reunion. What’s all that about?
