MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

who runs this website? FIRE THEM! nothing seems to get updated and IF they do, links and pictures dont work! for instance, what happened to all the Life of Ryan aftershow extras??? NOTHING! update the damn site.

Hello,
I can’t watch the real world road rules challenges. The clips (almost every single one) keeps getting stuck. Please fix this, I’m a huge fan of that show!!!!!!

I wanted to watch The hills episode 11, but it won’t play. The page keeps reloading. I played episode 10 and it worked fine. I wanted to watch it on my lunch break, but i guess not. Please fix soon.

I tried to watch The Hills episode 11 and it would not play! It just kept playing those annoying fashion commercials and then would act like it was going to the next clip but none of them would ever play! Only those crappy commercials:( Please fix soon!!!!!!!!!!

Does the IT department even read these? I think that it is rather pointless to ask for feedback and then not listen when the feedback is given. The vidoes aren’t working - for at least the last day. If you are aware of the problem, why don’t you put a comment somewhere so people know to come back later?

I cannot view the latest Hills episode. The clip yesterday would not play at all and kept forwarding to the next clip without showing any content. Now today the add plays at each the start of the clips but none of the show is being displayed.

Hello Hills fans
I was dying when I came on here and the vids were not working and still arent. I wanted to see episode 11 really bad so I went on to www.mtv.ca and watched it on there . The vids are working on the the mtv canada. So go there.It will ease the pain of not having the hills until the vids are back up and running on here.

wtf???? this is pretty bad guys - you press pause and it pauses the loading. Please fix, or if you can’t for awhile, advise an ETA - you need people to come to your site otherwise you are NOT going to get those advertising gigs.

It is totally inappropriate to have a show like Tila Tequila on during primetime when kids are up and watching. Yes, I agree that we as parents should police our kids. However; Lets not corrupt there minds with this type of “entertainment”. This show should be moved to late night.

I think that for the full episodes you should take out the revealing bits of the summary of the scenes. Because A scene from shot at love was completely ruined for me when I read “after ashley is eliminated…” before I had even seen it. Call me crazy, but I like to be suprised.

there was an episode of next that you aired a while back and there was a girl contestant who had the coolest hair. i think about that girls hair constantly and i want to see it again so i can style my hair like hers. the only thing is i have no way to access that show without your help. so i am asking to please help me find the episode. thank you very much!!

Everyone at MTV should be ashamed of themselves for being associated with Vincent Margera and allowing a character that would commit a crime in public. If it’s a crime in public, it should not be viewed as entertainment to portray it on TV. MTV does nothing to make society better. You promote blatant materialism, games, casual sexuality, and a litany of other negative attitudes. Look at the girl that’s only focus is how cool a girl’s hair was. Can’t you find something on TV that you can take more from than that? MTV brings our society down overall, and you all should be disgusted with yourselves for being associted with Vincent Margera and promoting what you promote on your network.
