MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

I think, Chrissy is confuse and needs to learn not to string people along someone like Clay who is descent and has such a big heart. It is truly her lost for being that c word person. Heads up Clay take Grant’s that beach morning advice you know the one where he is by the car “scene’ and where he is looking out to the ocean–he is so right! Happiness is a journey but not with her because she has fooled her once in terms of a relationship. Do not let get you down and do not let her be a real drag. You my friend completely deserves to be happy. I would dismiss the girl immediately, it will not be easy though it could be done. Again nothing against her just being cautious. And that is all I have say.

You should really up the age limit on Real World to at least 30. Then watch the drama-u know 30 knows all, and we all still have some of the 20’s left. We could really start some drama by telling these stupid bitches how life really is, god damn that would be fun! Anyway I know I would put all these stupid asses like dunbar, and all the other *##*$?###@#?. Why not up the ago limit a bit. You have GOT to listen to this song, “Change For You” by The Midway State. I heard them opening up for Daughtry at Foxwoods and although the acoustics were too loud, they sounded pretty good. So we bought the 4 song soundtrack-excellent. This band needs a break and I would love to hear that Boston was the outlet that gave them their big break.

I think True Life and Made are both very interesting programming, so why do you still have the moronic Real World? Real World started out with an interesting premise, young people getting a start on their own in a new city with new roomates, but it has degenerated into morons who do nothing but drink, have sex, and argue…..how boring.

I just caught the end of True Life: I’m Looking For My Father and saw a woman, Meghan, who was in her twenties and didn’t know her bio-dad. The thing is, I have a sister who I think is named Meghan whom I have never met.
By now she should be 22 going on 23 in Feb. ‘08. If there’s a way to see if this correlates with her, that would be pretty awesome. Think you could help out any MTV????

Hi MTV, I was wondering how to subscribe some one to Pimp My Ride. My mom has given all she has to every one, and for once I wish she got something in return. She drives for everyone, and she still gets jokes about her car by people. Even this christmas she took care of every one but she didt get what she merits. please tell me if theres any thing that can be done.

I have been totally discusted with the show Cribs. I don’t know what is interesting about rappers and sports stars flaunting their money by showing how shallow and decadent they are. Shows like this is part of the problem to the obsession of our youth with consumption and material things.
It is time for MTV to step up and become part of the solution.
Instead of influencing our youth with consumerism, why not reformat the show so that it features celebraties being socially responsible. I know there are plenty of them out there and they deserve to be recognized.
You could feature celebs doing chariable work, or sharing their good fortune with those less fortunate. It would help the charities and present our celebrities as positive role models who understand their resposibility to society.

I think your network not putting Lil Wayne on the best of 2007 is a poor decision. No one was on as many songs or remixes this year besides him. Yeah T-Pain is is a very good artist and has been on many songs or remixes this year. But no one is as good at doing what Weezy does. This year alone he put out around 15 mixtapes. I think you should reconsider the effort and time Lil Wayne has put into the music he makes. He deserves more recognition. Everyone from ordinary people to celebrities agree that Weezy is the best rapper alive 2007! Viva la Weezy!
