MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

I was watching the True Life episode “I’m Graduating High School” and found the struggles of these high school students to be ridiculous. One girl complains about working twenty-five hours a week while going to high school to be too hard and was concerned with graduating high school. I worked at least thirty-four hours a week in high school while taking Honors, AP, and IB classes and still graduated with honors and received scholarships to attend college. Another guy on this show complains because he’s already been accepted to college and he might make a ‘C’ in calculus. I mean is that really a big deal. It is not like he’s going to get rejected from the college for making a ‘C’ his senior year. I took AP BC Calculus in high school and made a 4 of 5 on the exam without even studying. These kids do not know what a struggle is and I think you could find better examples of kids who struggle throughout high school than these kids because I did everything they did in high school with ease. I mean it is ridiculous to think that these kids have had it that hard. I mean I did all that while taking care of my younger brother because my mother was addicted to drugs and was not always around to take care of him. I’m not complaining because I think I should have been featured, I’m complaining because I did all this without feeling like my life was hard and I know there are people out there who had a harder time than me and I think that children would benefit from hearing their stories instead of some whiny little kids who think their lives are hard.

I feel really upset about that fact that your “Think” on Darfur’s genocide is a small icon. myself and other classmates feel it should be paid more attention to. We have studying the genocide in Multicultural Literature. Why don’t you try listening to “Dear Mr.President” by Pink?! Maybe you can enlarge this icon.

Hello– I will like to know where can I go to, to request that Dani from” A shot at love” gets her own show? I found out that Domenico is getting his own show soon and I think that’s great but I think Dani should also get her own show. She has so many fans (even more than Tila) and it is apparent that many of us want her on air again(the center of attention to get a partner & be happy). Can MTV make this happen? Can they create a show due to the audience request?

It was especially interesting to watch the Laguna Beach episodes, home for the holidays, because i actually go to UCSB and then i thought mtv should really shoot a reality show in the UCSB college town Isla Vista and show everyone the true Isla Vista spirit of the all the crazy students living there!

I am watching True Life I am Going To Rehab. I am a Chronic Pain Sufferer and rely on pain meds to get me through the day. I see now why we get such a bad name for relying on these medications…its because there are people out there abusing them left and right like they are nothing. And those who are suffering with unrelenting pain like Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (what I am dealing with) have to basicly beg our Dr’s for some relief. And once we get the meds people look at use like we abuse them.

I dont understand why MTV is playing a cartoon from Friday. The Movie is old and the cartoon is NOT funny!!! Please do not show the animated show again. I mean you could have decided to play VIDEOS instead since you all didnt have anything else to show.

i just want to leave a comment/question for mtv. i was on the page where you can be a part of mtv shows. but, u have to be from los angeles. why is that? when people from all over watch mtv. i know you may have your reasons, and if its not asking to much i would like to know why. i enjoy watching mtv and now i would like to a part of a few shows, theres no way because im from chicago not los angeles.

I was sick all day and watched almost a full season of “So you think you can dance.” It got down to the last twenty people then the marathon ended. I cannot out on any website how or when I can see the final couple of episodes of the season. The season might continue in January, I have no idea. There needs to be information on stuff like this. Hey Tila, I am a huge fan of your show, I wouldnt miss an episode. I think that Dani should have been picked, like seriously. Im sure you get a lot of mean messeges, and i dont want to be another jerk, but what the hell were you thinking? Dani is perfect for you, and you chose Bobby. Sure hes decent looking, but he isnt the one for you, Dani is. Im a lesbian, and I wasnt routing for her because sh’e one too, but because she was the right choice. I think you guys should really consider giving DANI CAMPBELL her own show. It doesn’t have to be a Dating show..but it should be some type of Reality Show. I don’t think it would be to hard because she is a Fire fighter. you could just follow her around. anyways…i wish you guys would give her..her own show…i think by now she more popular than Tila..i think that Tila lost a few fans…..i hate her now..she was just a poser.

How do I get my daughter on made, she is a junior in high school and a golfer with great potential but never practices, thinks it will just happen and it not, she alway’s watches the show and as as a result I have to watch it. She is the champion of the underdog and I always tell her I’m going to get her on the show to bring out the real potential. Help.

i think MTV should do true life my partner is an undocumented or illegal alien. I am a 23 yr. old new mother ive been with my boyfriend for over a year now and he is a undocumented worker. our son is a little over 2 months and it is difficult on many levels to be with him but im with him because i love him. I would really love to see other people out there like me that struggle with daily things that “normal couples” take for granted. like driving and getting a job. were talking about marriage and its harder to do than i think most people imagine

Hello. I almost made it on MTV for the show “MADE”! Wow! Anyway, I wanted to express that as a singer, I totally understand what Amy Winehouse is doing, Robert Plant did the same thing! There are picture’s of him taking in some coke. It’s rock and roll, man! If people are going to live their life as a hermit, that’s their problem, I read some of the comments people left regarding that article. Peter Jackson directing “The Hobbit”?! Wow! As far as the future of music goes, MTV, it really does not matter what technology the music is played on, whether it’s digital or analog, just as long as it’s recorded properly. It’s not, unfortunately, so the young ones like Paramore will have to suffer (read latest issue of Rolling Stone, it’s in there). I’m a little older ……so…… um……..who would I choose to produce my band’s album? Either Nikki Sixx or Jimmy Page. More so Jimmy Page. Have a merry christmas, MTV, as well as a happy new year! Next year will be triumphant, it’ll be the year when everything will start making sense. I think people are confused now, don’t you, MTV? There’s a lady who sure, all that glitters is gold and she’s buying a stairway to heaven………….

The ads on the site took up a huge chunk of the band width and made the videos choppy; mostly the newest Bring It On movie…andI don’t even think anyone is going to want see it. Another add covered 1/2 of the video I was watching and would not close even after I hit the designated “x”

Give Danny a shot at love too!!!
I loved that damned show for whatever reason and I found myself torn between them both as well. It is rare you find such NICE and GENUINE people in reality shows.
Danny rocked face and needs to be able to find someone she can be happy with as well. I honestly think Tila picked the right person even though I personally LOVE Danny and everything about her. Let her have a chance to find someone as badass as she is!
Fit it in your programming… I think EVERYONE has had enough crap from Next and The Hills. You know it’s true too

Hello MTV….Well, I am a loyal viewer and hardly EVER do you find a cast member as touching and inspirational and Dani…I think you should give Dani her own dating show. It would be the first gay dating show on MTV! She is a genuine person who actually has depth and would be a pleasant change from some of the other characters we’ve seen.
Dani not being picked was bitter sweet b/c she was hurt…wich sucked to see.
But I thought: Sweet! She is still single! LOL….I’d be the first on in line at the casting call! lol…
I would mos def consider doing that show…I think it would be ground breaking and it can give Dani a shot at love that she deserves!!

hey, I was woundering if you guys can have some type of “Wish come true” for kids favorite reality shows. I have a 9 year old son who adores Runs house and have wish that some day he can be part of Runs family so that he can enjoy a day with Russy and Diggy. My son is the only child of a decease father and he has one sister by me. He is the youngest and always have wanted a brother to have. Unfornately Im not planning on having anymore kids. Is there amy way that you can have Mr. Run consider of having a show that is for Wish come true for his fan.
