MTV.com Community Beta Launch
As promised months ago when we flipped the site from a short-lived Flash experience back to an HTML platform, we’ve been constantly working on new MTV.com features and improvements. The smaller stuff has been rolling out quite regularly, but now we’re ready to test something a bit bigger.
Today we took the first step towards implementing community features with the launch of beta.mtv.com. Admittedly, it’s a baby step: mostly it’s commenting and the ability to rate content (video, photo, articles). But creating the back end for this lays the foundation for other features that comprise most online communities (user profiles, customization, messaging, etc.) that we will unveil in the coming months.
We have also made it possible for you to snag our music video clips and post them to your MySpace page or blog. The video embed codes sit to the left of our music videos.
Because we want to get it right before going public, we’ve got the beta launch. We invited people who previously registered with MTV.com to take part and asked them to invite their friends. But you’re not left out, either. Interested MTV Labs users are invited to join in, too, by clicking here.
So, please, kick the tires a bit for us. Rate music videos new and old, sound off on a news article and engage other beta testers in conversation. And let us know the good and the bad of how it’s working by leaving a comment here.

hey i was just wondering if you guys are going to have another reality tv show. cause you guess should do another one here in Santa Cruz, CA. its the sickest place in the world. Laguna Beach and Newport Harbor is cool but they’re too rich looking. santa cruz is rich looking also but its still a cool place. and the drama here is INSANE. u should definately do a show here.

i think that you should put up full episodes of every real world season because you guys don’t play anymore recaps of any of the other seasons and you should just give full episodes on the website or at least sell every season on DVD i’m sure they’ll sell alot of money

I just thought I’d suggest a topic for a True Life episode on Fibromyalgia. You have done a lot on other illnesses and fibromyalgia needs some advocating. A lot of people live with this all ages and it affects their life in many ways.

why do your videos no longer stream correctly? i find myself becoming very frustrated as every episode i try to watch stops every 10 seconds to buffer. what happened to being able to pause the video and let it buffer so i can later watch it without interrupstion. its very very annoying!

the videos are not streaming right and it really really sucks to watch them on-line. Is there anything that can be done? They were running fine a month ago and now something has changed and they are really hard to watch when they stop every 2 seconds to buffer/load again.

im really disapointed cos im in canada at the moment and iv been watching the Realworld Sydney on the website because canada is like two or three episodes behind America but today i tried to watch it on the U.S site like always and it wont let me anymore becuase im not in the U.S but it worked last week and i was still in Canada so i was wondering if there is any other way i can keep up with my favourite tv shows or if this is maybe going to change back to the way it was so i can watch from anywhere in the world because pretty soon im going to be in Australia and they are way behind in all the shows

none of your videos online work!how are people supposed to watch them if they are never on tv! im trying to watch newport harbor and all i can see is commercails!it makes me mad beacause people arent all ways home to see them on tv and then they are never on again! so they try and watch it online but no videos work, and only commercails show so it “buffers” for like ten minutes and never plays!’please fix it so i can watch shows!ive been trying to watch the newport harbor for 2 hours and its still not working! and its not my computer because i have high speed internet. so it is you!

yeah so play more music videos and feture more and more artists. instead of running marathons of america’s next top model or whatever, focus on the music!! since it is MUSIC TELEVESION! i read an article in rolling stones about how justin timberlake siad to PLAY MORE MUSIC VIDEOS and you guys said we can watch it online. well hello! not EVERYONE has a computer!! i mean, come on have a show about new artists instead of the hills. yeah, it’s cool that you guys have a new artist every week but there’s thousands other ones too!!! it’s sad when, in a channel call music television, a REALITY SHOW about a girl who has the same drama everytime is more popular than music videos!!!!!!!!!! they don’t even have no talent whatsoever and they’re more famous than REAL artists who have passion and love for music and deserve way more fame!!! you guys are responsible for everyone being OBSSESED WITH CELEBRITIES!!

Run’s House is the new Cosby Show . My family loves it. This is the best show on MTV. At this moment my 10 year old daughter and I are watching the show together. I would like to thank Justine for covering her hair up at night because getting my daughter to cover her hair at night was a battle. “Who on TV covers their hair with a scarf at night when they go bed?” My daughter would say and I would say Justine! She would just laugh and she has been doing a great a job. MTV, THANKS FOR SHOWING THAT THEIR ACTUALLY FAMILIES LIVING RIGHT AND POSITIVELY.
